7-time NBA All-Star Damian Lillard has been the talk of the town over the past few months. It all started during the NBA free agency when he asked to be traded from the Portland Trailblazers, the team where he spent 11 seasons. After much back and forth with teams like the Miami Heat, Lillard was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks. It looks like this is not the end of the Lillard saga.

Just days after this blockbuster move, he filed for a divorce from his wife, Kay’La. Interestingly, one crucial document signed before his marriage saved a lot of money for the Bucks star from this divorce.

Documents reveal exclusive details about Damian Lillard

Lillard has been one of the highest-earning athletes in the league over the past few seasons. Along with endorsements and other deals, the 2013 Rookie of the Year has amassed a $100 million net worth in a very short period.

Following his recent divorce debacle, Lillard could have lost a huge amount of his money, like Michael Jordan and many other NBA stars who went through expensive divorces.

It is a prenup! Documents obtained from RadarOnline revealed that the two had signed a prenup just five days before their September 4th wedding in 2021.

The prenup covers almost every area from the custody of their three kids to even the legal fees! Interestingly, if Kay’La decides to fight the prenup, Lillard might demand her to pay the legal fees! 

Kay’La sacrificed a lot for Lillard

Over the past few months, some narratives around Lillard have drastically changed. Once hailed as the flag-bearer of loyalty in the NBA, his move to the Bucks shattered that narrative.

Kay’La also cleared the air around his ‘family man’ status. She revealed that she was quiet in order to maintain that image of Lillard. Moreover, she also revealed that the Bucks superstar was absent from his parental duties.

“Despite our separation for several months, I have continued to support that image to the public”, revealed Kay’La. “I have been the primary parent for our three children since their birth”, said Kay’La Lillard as per RadarOnline.

She further added, “While I am a registered and licensed nurse, I am a stay-at-home mother for our children. I have made all the major decisions regarding our children: I interviewed and selected their pediatrician and their dentist; I have made all medical decisions for the children.” Apart from demanding the prenup to be enforced, Damian Lillard has also asked his wife to drop the surname.
