Kevin Durant takes a step back

In a recent interview clip shared by Joy De’Angela on X, Kevin Durant sits down with her to play a game of choosing his picks for the In-Season Tournament coming up this Friday. During the game, Durant chooses within each group, the team which he thinks will take the lead. But in an unexpected turn of events, the two-time NBA champion mentions Chris Paul as one of the best point guards of his generation while picking the Warriors as the top team in West Group C.

However, Durant instantly takes a step back by stressing the word arguably. “We can argue. Meaning I didn’t say he is for sure the best”, he stated.

This raises eyebrows as Stephen Curry who is even in the same team as Chris, both being point guards, wasn’t mentioned at all by Durant. Durant is known to share a special bond with Curry since the two teamed up back in 2016. One can say this might be a reason why he takes the step back.

Durant’s departure raised a lot of questions about his relationship with the team and coaches. But the bond between the two-star players has not been impacted by this. The duo has shown support and admiration for each other on multiple occasions. Durant has even claimed Curry to be the greatest shooter of all time while Curry has expressed his wish to team up with him again.

What is to see is if this statement from Durant will have any impact on this dynamic friendship or if Durant has done enough to save it.
