It’s no secret that the Golden State Warriors are in a deplorable state. With a 21-25 record, they are at the bottom of the Pacific Division and have climbed down to 12th position in the Western Conference. This is not to say that their star player Stephen Curry has been underperforming. Instead, Chef Curry has been going above and beyond to keep the team afloat.

This was evident during their recent game against the Hawks. Despite Steph’s staggering performance of a season-high 60 points, including six rebounds and four assists, he wasn’t able to translate that into a win. The Warriors lost 141-134, and it was evidently because his teammates failed to lend him the support he needed. The game further exposed the underlying problems the team has. So, to turn things around and save their veteran star’s season, the Warriors are looking outside the team for solutions.

With the trade deadline approaching, sources suggest that the team has shown interest in former Lakers star Alex Caruso. According to an X post by NBACentral, “The Golden State Warriors reportedly inquired about Alex Caruso.” The 29-year-old star won his first Championship with the Lakers in 2020 and signed with the Bulls in 2021. Chicago had been hesitant to trade off Caruso initially, but following Zach LaVine’s season-ending injury, they could potentially change their mind.

Up until now, Caruso’s interest had mostly been turned down by management because of an internal focus on securing a playoff berth and his contract, which runs through 2024-2025 season. Instead, LaVine’s name was on the line for a trade, but his injury could have scared off interested teams. For now, the Bulls seem uncertain about which direction to take.

What can the Warriors expect from the Caruso trade?

Stephen Curry is breaking his back trying to carry the once glorious franchise, but the team is consistently failing to reciprocate the effort. With Caruso in the picture, it could give the push they desperately need. Caruso is averaging 10.1 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 42 games while shooting 48.7 percent from the floor and 40.9 percent from deep. He poses a strong physical presence and is highly impactful as a guard defender on top of being a great passer. For the Warriors, having someone like Caruso onboard could take off the defensive load from Steph, who clearly needs a breather at this point.

In addition, Caruso has been knocking down three-point shots lately. This can provide the Warriors with another outside shooting option, chiming in for Klay Thompson, who seems to have lost his touch. The Warriors are desperate for a revamp and unless they can pull a good trade, Steph’s season could practically be over.
