The All-Star weekend is upon us and after the announcement of the All-Star starters, all eyes are on the Reserves. This is the first time in 10 years that Stephen Curry won’t be starting. On the other hand, Anthony Davis made his last appearance on an All-Star list in 2021 but couldn’t play due to an injury. With the All-Star game upon us on 19th February, a tentative list of the Reserves is making rounds on the internet. After being snubbed as an All-Star starter, will these two seasoned veterans make it onto the reserve list?

On February 1, Run it Back tweeted former NBA players Chandler Parsons’ and Lou Williams’ NBA All-Star reserves list. Warriors’ point guard, Curry, and Lakers’ power forward, Davis, found themselves in Chandler’s Western Conference All-Star Reserves list. But they missed out on a spot in Lou’s reserve list.

The selection of the All-Star starters is a popularity contest. Fans’ votes are counted for 50%. Then comes the media votes, which are counted as 25%. And lastly, the players’ vote makes up the rest of the 25%. Both Steph and Davis missed out on becoming fan favorites this year. The 14 reserves are selected by the 30 NBA head coaches.

End of Warriors Dynasty: How Did Fan Favourite Stephen Curry Lose All Star Role to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander?

The Golden State Warriors have been struggling this season with a 19-23 record. Curry is averaging 26.7 points, 5.0 assists, and 4.5 threes, which may not be at par with his MVP-level stats but is still pretty high up there. Even though Curry ranked second in the fan voting, he couldn’t jump over the players and media tabulations.

Anthony ‘AD’ Davis from the LA Lakers, on the other hand, has been averaging 25 points, 12.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 2.4 blocks along with 1.2 steals.

The Lakers’ Anthony Davis and Lebron James are considered a legendary duo. James has already been picked as a fan favorite for the 20th time and is the West All-Star Captain. The question remains: will Davis be joining the “L-Train” and work their magic at the game?

All-Stars game returning to its roots

The All-Star game, hosted by the Indiana Pacers, is set to take place on 19th February. In its 73rd year, the exhibition game will return to its roots, switching to the pre-2018 format featuring four 12-minute quarters with an untimed fourth quarter.

The All-Star starters were announced on February 2nd, and featured James and Giannis Antetokounmpo as captains of the Western and Eastern conferences, respectively. Alongside LeBron will be Durant, Jokic, Doncic, and Gilgeous-Alexander. Giannis will be teamed up with his Bucks teammate Lillard and Embiid, Tatum, and Haliburton.
