The Minnesota Timberwolves are basking in success this season. With 20 wins in their 25 games so far, they are currently reigning in the Western Conference standings. Their significant success to date can be attributed to their All-Star guard, Anthony Edwards.  The 22-year-old has been on a tear on the court, averaging 24.6 points per game. However, off the court, the T-Wolves star performer has currently found himself under public scrutiny due to the “abortion” controversy.

Despite the recent drama surrounding his personal life, his 24-year-old teammate heaps praise on the Georgia alum for his maturity and vocal leadership on the court.

Naz Reid praises Anthony Edwards’ growth in terms of maturity

In a recent episode of the Tidal League, Naz Reid sat down to discuss Anthony Edwards’ growth from eating Popeyes at interviews to taking his diet seriously. It’s not just about taking care of his health; it’s about his maturity in everything he does, from walking to talking. As Ried says, looking at him playing, it wasn’t hard to tell he was going to be great. However, his growth as a person has been a fresh change that the organization needed to succeed. “I said before I’ve seen the hoops already; you already knew he was going to be what he is, but it’s like just the maturity and the other stuff…It’s just you see the whole growth,” Reid said about AE’s growth since his rookie season.

In the meantime, he has also taken up the role of leader in the squad. When asked whether he is leading through actions or vocal guidance now, Reid remarks that he has embraced both approaches. “He literary takes over like, ‘No, f–k that, I’mma do it,” remarked Reid.

Anthony Edwards allegedly urged a woman to get an abortion

On Monday, December 18th, Instagram model Paige Jordae took to the social media platform to expose the text conversation between Edwards and the model. The text messages indicate that Edwards allegedly asked the model to consider having an abortion after she got pregnant with his child. He even went as far as offering her $100,000 in financial assistance to go through the process.

Following the revelation, AE issued a formal apology addressing the ongoing scandal. In the statement, he claimed that his statements in the text messages were said in the “heat of the moment” and were not in alignment with what he believes in and who he wants to be “as a man.” He further added, “All women should be empowered to make their own decisions about their bodies and what is best for them.” He won’t be making any further statements regarding this matter and will be dealing with it privately.
