Huge changes are in store for the NBA fans as the trade deadline looms just three weeks away. One of the most talked-about potential moves involves Atlanta Hawks‘ Dejounte Murray possibly heading to the Los Angeles Lakers. When acquiring Murray, the Hawks invested three first-round picks and a swap in 2022. With that, Atlanta is understandably seeking substantial returns in any potential trade. Till now, the two teams have reportedly engaged in discussions about possible deal structures; with a version featuring D’Angelo Russell, Jalen Hood-Schifino, and the 2029 first-round pick, as per insights from various team and league sources.
However, the talks have hit a temporary standstill, with anticipation of resuming as the deadline draws near. However, the Lakers are not the sole contenders in the race for Murray, as several other teams have expressed interest in the dynamic young player. With a recent update by Murray himself, it seems like an Eastern Conference team might harbor his new home.

Atlanta currently holds the 10th seed in their conference behind a 17-23 record. However, despite their disappointing standing, Murray has shown signs of great individual performance. On the 2023-24 season, he is averaging 21 points, 4.8 assists, and 4.8 rebounds. Moreover, he is shooting on more than 45% clip. Regardless of decent numbers, the Hawks seek to move Murray to harmonize the backcourt compatibility with Trae Young.
Milwaukee is also aiming for Murray
The Milwaukee Bucks have emerged as the latest team expressing interest in Dejounte Murray, positioning themselves as one of the top contenders to acquire him. Earlier in the season, they bolstered their backcourt by adding Damian Lillard. Introducing Murray to the lineup promises to bring the athletic burst and perimeter defense that the team has been actively seeking.
