James Harden has been on the move for 3 years, chasing NBA glory without getting any closer to achieving it. His Los Angeles Clippers saga has been a widespread point of discussion lately. The idea of the 10-time All-Star on the stacked Clippers roster has intrigued several NBA fans.  However, not everything has been working in the 33-year-old’s favor. Harden shocked the world by asking for a trade away from the Sixers this off-season. It was his third request in 3 seasons. While several teams entered the race for his signature, the Clippers emerged as the strongest contender to land the former MVP.

The idea of Harden teaming up with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George has definitely raised several eyebrows, including those of a 5-time NBA champion.

The Beard has been under the microscope for a while. It has led to the $165M worth superstar receiving intense backlash lately. He also has been separated from his prime years for quite a while, playing mostly as a playmaking point guard nowadays. Nonetheless, he has gradually improved his health, playing the most number of games last season since his Houston Rockets days.

5-time champion, Derek Fisher brought this aspect up while discussing the Harden-Clippers saga.

During an interview, the former Los Anges Lakers player mentioned, “James has been more available than Kawhi and Paul, regardless of how you feel about James’ game. So to some degree, it may work better, even if when healthy Paul and Kawhi are clearly two of the best players.

Fisher played for the Lakers from 1996 to 2012. During that time, he played alongside the iconic Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal duo. So he knows a thing or two about what it takes for such high star-power situations to work.  He believes that James Harden might fit better with the Clippers than their superstar duo. However, how far can these statements be justified?

Kawhi and PG13 have not had it easy

Kawhi Leonard and Paul George were deemed the strongest duo in the NBA when they signed with the Clippers in 2019.

However, they do not have a single Finals appearance to show for their time together. The duo has succumbed to injuries throughout their stint with the Clippers, often missing out on several regular season games. Notably, Harden has not had this problem lately.

The Beard, having dealt with his share of injuries in the past, has been much more available lately. He played a solid 58 games with the Sixers last season, also showing up for every playoff game. His prime years may be behind him but the former MVP is still staying healthy.
