The reflecting on the number of days away from home, Anthony Davis shared the wholesome message from his wife, Marlen Polonco Davis.

The Lakers have had a tough run since their NBA cup glory. The team went on unbeaten run during the In-season Tournament and raised their first ever In-season championship banner up the rafters. But, since then, the LA side had been slipping down in a spiral. Notably, the team managed to win only 3 games out of 11 after that. Anthony Davis opened up on the long away game schedule

The star center currently holds a crucial spot in the Lakers’ roster. In fact, he takes the role of a leader in the absence of LeBron James. As the famous pop-culture saying goes, ‘With power comes great responsibility’, Anthony Davis also holds the responsibility of shouldering his team.

A reporter approached Davis in the locker room after the game and asked him about the point where it hit him about missing home. The star center immediately responded with the message which his wife sent him amid this long schedule of road games. He said, “My wife sent me a text like, I haven’t seen you in forever.” 

Later the star himself said, “It’s part of schedule. It’s part of NBA.”

Even though the star center is aware of the commitment required for the league, he has also set high standards with his commitment to family.

AD’s philosophy on family

In an interview in 2019, Davis said, “The greatest luxury in life is family. I think no matter what you go through, your family is always going to be there,” reported People. 

Despite the glitz and glamor in the league, AD’s remained off the spotlight. He married Marlen Polonco in 2021 after being together since 2017. The couple currently has a daughter and two sons. Given the tough life of the NBA athletes and the constant scheduling changes in the NBA, the most time players can spend with their family comes in the Off-Season.
