Anthony Davis cannot catch a break. The Los Angeles Lakers lost LeBron James near the tip-off time to an illness on April 7. With the leadership void, Davis stepped up. However, midway into the first quarter, a blow to his eye aggravated the injury he sustained on March 16. With that, and possibility of further complications, Davis was listed as questionable before the Lakers’ game against the Golden State Warriors.

However, like the several instances this season, fans expected AD to mark a turnaround near the tip-off time. Luckily, he, despite the injury, was seen entering the arena hours before the game.

With a potential green light slated for the tip-off, Davis joined his team for the pre-game routines. However, head coach Darvin Ham claims that Davis also suffered through serious “headache” and “nausea” apart from the listed injury concerns.

Soon, as fans expected Anthony Davis to flaunt a pair of goggles on the court, Jovan Buha updated “Anthony Davis (headache, nausea) has been downgraded to out for tonight’s game.”

Apart from Davis, Christian Wood (arthroscopic knee procedure), Jalen-Hood Schifino (lumbar microdiscectomy), and Jarred Vanderbilt (foot) will remain out of the contest. Gabe Vincent, after sitting out against Minnesota, will mark a return to the lineup while LeBron James is slated as a game-time decision. He was listed out of the Wolves game because of flu-like symptoms.

The Warriors visit the Crypto.com arena locked and loaded. They harbor a rare healthy unit, as Andrew Wiggins and Gary Payton II were upgraded to questionable last night. The game marks the two team’s season finale, as they find ways to climb out the conference’s bottom ranks. However, for the Lakers, Davis’ absence will surely affect them.

The 2023-24 campaign marks the most games played by Anthony Davis while donning a purple and gold. He has played 74 games so far, missing out only 5 contests. He is posting his best rebounding season alongside a 55.4% clip from the field (2nd career-best).

The Lakers tonight’s game while being 2-3 in Davis’ absence, with a losing margin of nearly 21 points. They lost to the Houston Rockets (94-128), San Antonio Spurs (115-129) and Atlanta Hawks (122-138). However, that was until January. Since then, they have won the couple games without their star center, defeating the Memphis Grizzlies and the league leading Boston Celtics.

The Lakers will need to ensure proper rebounding patterns, all while showing a respectable clip from beyond the arc. Their 3 losses without Anthony Davis come because of being out-rebounded by atleast 11 rebounds per contest, while displaying a dismal 31.3% shooting from beyond the arc.
