Despite making it to the playoff with a bang, the LA Lakers may have minor trouble ahead of the Denver Nuggets clash. Anthony Davis, who has been dealing with a back spasm injury over the last few days, showed confidence that he could recover in time. And, the recent update revealed that the star is expected to recover before the start of the first round series.

Anthony Davis revealed that he was experimenting with his back for tonight’s game but was confident to take the court on Saturday night for Game 1 against the Nuggets, as per Dave McMenamin. He also opined that the star center would get back to his 100% before the series. Interestingly, he played 40 minutes tonight despite calling it an experiment. AD dropped 20 points with 15 rebounds and 3 blocks, playing with a back spasm.

The Lakers could definitely use the help of Anthony Davis in the playoff series against the defending champions. Especially when the LA side is on a poor streak against them. LeBron James & Co. have a 8-0 record against the Nuggets along with a 4-0 series sweep in the 2023 West Finals. The Nuggets possess both size and shooting advantage on their side, and losing AD could be costly for the LA side.

During the regular season finale against the New Orleans Pelicans, Davis left the floor with 6 minutes left in the fourth quarter. The team managed to win the game comfortably in his absence. While he was expected to miss the game tonight, he turned up. The game also went down the wire, and the team required his service at both ends of the court. AD stood on the court for 40 minutes and delivered the W for the side.

Moreover, on Sunday, he broke his personal record, playing the 76th game of the season, missing out on only 6 games. Before this series, the most games he had played was 75 during his time with the Pelicans. The star has managed to break the injury-prone narrative in his 12th season.

Will Anthony Davis & Co. cross their Denver hurdle?

Ahead of the first Play-in game between the Pels and Lakers, there was a lot of noise surrounding AD’s fitness. Especially, the veteran analyst Stephen A. Smith took a direct dig at Davis’ back spasm. He made a grave claim stating that Davis intentionally had a back spasm in order to miss tonight’s game.

On top of it, Smith added that LeBron James would also miss the game. He argued that the Lakers would intentionally lose against the Pelicans so that they don’t have to face the Nuggets in the first round. Nevertheless, the Purple & Gold side has squashed all those claims and entered the playoffs.

Now, the Lakers have another big mountain to climb, which is defeating the Nuggets. In this season, the Lakers faced the Nuggets thrice and won all three of them comfortably. The only option that the Lakers have left in their arsenal is to play more minutes with James. Another veteran analyst, Colin Cowherd pointed out the team’s lack of shot makers apart from Bron and Austin Reaves.

Will the Lakers cross the Nuggets hurdle and put an end to the adversity? Let us know in the comments.
