The Los Angeles Lakers successfully managed to chip in yet another win for their powerhouse franchise. This time, it was against the defending Champions and their rivals, Boston Celtics (117-96) on Thursday. Efforts led by LeBron James and Anthony Davis paid fruit as they put together 44 points, combined. Per their HC JJ Redick, it was possible, all thanks for their great defensive strategies.

As Bron and Brow chase their next championship, they did not mince their words while expressing their concerns for the Lakers with ESPN’s Shams Charania. Especially Davis!

All they want is for the Lakers to be a strong contender, and suggested that the front office make valuable additions to the roster with a suitable center for the team.

Seemingly aware of the needs of his team, JJ Redick wasn’t surprised at this demand. After the Celtics-Lakers game, he said, “The reality is that isn’t a new report. I got the job six months ago so I know that. I’ve followed this team since I’ve retired. Just put a date next to it and that’s the new report. It’s not a big deal. Those guys want to win. We want to win,” Redick noted during the post-game conference.

Davis told ESPN that he believes the Lakers definitely need to add a good Center to their roster. He also believes that the franchise is just “one or two pieces away from title contention”. He, along with James, indirectly stated their desire for the Lakers front office to be aggressive with their trades and future draft picks.

Both James and Davis’ comments stem from just one need – to get rid of any margin of error.

In the report by Charania, Davis further opened up about being a power forward for the team. “I feel like I’ve always been at my best when I’ve been the (power forward) and having a big out there,” Davis shared.

The 2020 Lakers roster that won the championship included centers like Dwight Howard, who contributed significantly. And Anthony Davis has often voiced his opinion to return to his position as a power forward.

Who can be the right center for the Lakers?

The 9x-time NBA All-Star, Anthony Davis, has been filling the center position for the past four seasons. After Redick was appointed as the head coach of the team, there were questions about the Los Angeles Lakers need for a center. As the team remains active in trade rumors, there haven’t been any significant additions.

Potential players, such as Robert Williams III and Nikola Vučević are currently in discussion. While Vucevic’s offensive skills make him a strong candidate to join Davis, Williams III could also be a significant addition. Vucevic is averaging 20.3 points and 10.4 rebounds, while the latter is averaging 6.1 points and 5.4 rebounds per game this season. But just as the head coach clarified, the team hasn’t had any success yet.

Davis and LeBron James once again lit up their game in the latest matchup against the Boston Celtics. Davis hit 24 points and his teammate contributed with 20 points to lead the team. Finney-Smith also played great defense to help the team. However, Redick’s latest comment once again leaves fans in a dilemma about whether Davis’ wishes will be fulfilled.
