In a fiercely competitive sport like Basketball, getting compared to the greats is unavoidable. For Minnesota Timberwolves’ Shooting Guard, Anthony Edwards, one such comparison may not be within his reach, despite a glowing endorsement from NBA legend Jamal Crawford. According to Crawford, Edwards reminds him of no one other than Michael Jordan.

A comparison to Michael Jordan is no joke. On ‘NBA on TNT,’ Crawford gave his justification to co-host and Indiana Pacers’ former player, Reggie Miller. For Jamal, the resemblance is “uncanny.”

In a recent TNT Broadcast, Jamal Crawford hinted at a resemblance between Edwards’ game and that of the biggest Superstar in the NBA; Michael Jordan. “I’m not saying who, Reg,” he said to Miller. “But it looks kiiiiiinda familiar. Late game, takeover in the mid-post, fade-away style.” Sensing the implication of his co-host’s statement, Miller pressed for an answer. “Say who Jamal,” He implored. “I’m getting there, Reg. I’m getting there,” said Crawford. But not everyone agrees with Jamal.

For veteran NBA Analyst, David Aldridge, no one can be compared to Jordan. Until Aldridge sees Ant “drop 63 in the Garden,” the journalist is not buying it. For someone who saw the brilliance of Michael Jordan live, anyone else fails to compare. Ant has had a career-high average of 25.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.1 assists in 35.1 minutes this season. But it falls short compared to Jordan’s 30.1 points, 6.2 rebounds and 5.3 assists average in 1,072 regular-season games. But Edwards’ career has just started, and it only gets better hereon.

Anthony Edwards’ Season Performance

Ant was the #1 overall pick in the 2020 draft. He finished second on Rookie of the Year that season. His contribution to getting Minnesota this far in the playoffs is undeniable. He reached his career-high performance this season on April 9 against the Washington Wizards with 51 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists in 38 minutes. For comparison, Jordan’s career-high performance was 69 points, 18 rebounds and 7 assists in 50 minutes, on 28th March 1990 against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Ant once again outshone everyone in Game 1, Round 2 last night, against the Denver Nuggets. He contributed a whopping 43 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists to the Wolves’ victory. They beat Denver 106-99 and Ant recorded a playoff career-high. He is now one of the only two players to have scored a consecutive 40-points back-to-back in playoffs, alongside legend Kobe Bryant.

Anthony Edwards has the Nuggets stressed out. Prior to Game 1, Denver Head Coach, Mike Malone had said this about Edwards,“It’s just how strong and athletic, explosive he is. There are no weaknesses there.” Last year, the Timberwolves were eliminated from Round 2 of playoffs after losing in Game 5 to the eventual champions, Denver Nuggets. Ant’s performance is now miles ahead of last season. Will he be able to carry the Wolves to the title or will history repeat itself? Game 2 of Round 2 takes place tonight, May 6, at 7:30 pm EST.
