After weeks of thrill, drama, and action, it has all come down to this one game, the 2025 EuroBasket Final. Tonight, two teams boasting a perfect 8-0 record will lock horns, but only one will walk away as the undefeated kings of Europe. So far, both teams have been steamrolling past teams in the competition, but Germany stands out. That’s because the reigning world champions have the highest per-game throughout the tournament, standing at a staggering 101.4 points.

Although the entire German roster has contributed to this incredible run, Dennis Schroder and Franz Wagner have emerged as the leaders for this team. The NBA star duo’s performance will be crucial for Germany, as they hope to become only the fourth team in basketball history to hold the world champion and EuroBasket champion crowns simultaneously, joining the Soviet Union (USSR), Yugoslavia, and Spain. However, will Schroder and Wagner be part of what seems to be a historic night for their nation?

What is the latest update on Dennis Schroder & Franz Wagner?

Germany without a doubt has been the best team so far at the tournament. However, it’s hard to imagine them in the same place without Dennis Schroder. While the 31-year-old has been a journeyman throughout his NBA career, he will go down as one of Germany’s greatest players once he’s all set and done. That’s far-fetched as of now because he’ll be available for tonight’s final battle against Turkey as he aims to add another accolade to his already stacked international resume.

The Sacramento Kings guard is averaging a stunning 20.9 points along with 3.5 rebounds. Not just that, he has also been a phenomenal facilitator, leading the team in assists with 6.6 per game. So, it shouldn’t be a surprise if the German head coach, Alan Ibrahimagic, selects Schroder as one of the first players for his starting five for tonight.

Just like Sac-Town’s newest star, Wagner has also been superb for this nation. The six-foot-nine guard has been a scoring machine, averaging a team-high 21.1 points per game. Not to mention his solid contributions in other aspects, as he averages 5.6 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game. So, given just how good the Orlando Magic sensation has been, and that he’s not on any injury report, there’s no doubt that he’ll also start in tonight’s EuroBasket 2025  gold medal matchup.

This is great news for Germany, as despite them being ruthless throughout the competition, if there’s any team that poses a challenge against them, it’s Turkey. That’s because the Turks have also been equally good throughout the tournament, with Houston Rockets center Alperen Sengun leading their lines. This should be enough to get everyone excited for tonight’s clash.

For Turkey, Alperen Sengun and Cedi Osman have been the two superstars, whereas for Germany, X-Factors have been Dennis Schroder and Franz Wagner. So, there’s not much to separate the two finalists. However, if we were to pick a favorite, it would be the reigning world champions.

This German roster knows how to stand up to the occasion, especially Schroder, who was also the team’s MVP at the World Cup a couple of years ago. This gives Coach Ibrahimagic’s team that little bit of an edge over this Turkish team. However, that’s just what we think, and we’ll only know who’s the better team once it’s all set and done in Latvia as we eagerly await the tip-off.
