Gatorade dominated the global energy drinks market for quite some time, sponsoring superstars like Michael Jordan in the past. YouTube sensations Logan Paul and KSI took Gatorade and the energy drink world by storm with the release of Prime a few years ago. Despite its insane success, Prime has received recent worldwide criticism for its health concerns. Amid all such issues, an NBA star has decided to sponsor his own drink on social media platforms.

Interestingly, this comes when one of his rivals is going through a rough patch. Senator Charles Schumer called on the Food and Drug Administration after concerns about Prime’s caffeine levels.

“One of the summer’s hottest status symbols for kids is not an outfit or a toy—it’s a beverage. But buyers and parents beware because it’s a serious health concern for the kids it so feverishly targets”, wrote the Senator in a letter, according to Entertainment Online.

Despite the criticism, Logan Paul and KSI came out strong. Addressing the allegations, a spokesperson clarified that Prime’s caffeine content adheres to country limits wherever they are sold.

When did Kuzma launch his own drink?

Kuz co-founded Barcode along with New York Knicks performance director Bar Malik in 2021. Within a few years of its launch, Barcode has tasted widespread success. In fact, it is the official performance drink of the NBA Player’s Association.

The drink is plant-based and promises no ‘artificial ingredients and sugar’. Moreover, it also promises a good alternative to modern athletes who wish to refrain from artificial colors and flavors.
