From injuries to mental health issues, the Nets guard had to deal with a lot. In fact, these injuries also prompted Simmons to miss out on the 2023 FIBA World Cup, another event that may have been of significant national importance.

Boomers missed Simmons in FIBA

Team Australia earlier entered the 2023 FIBA World Cup in the absence of their 6’11 point guard, Ben Simmons. The Boomers had an opportunity to secure their first ever medal in the prestigious event. Given the high stakes, the Aussies needed their most talented players to show up for national duty. However, while Patty Mills and his men fought for glory, Simmons rested and rehabbed for the upcoming NBA season.

Given the absence of their star point guard, Team Australia faltered, leading to an early exit from the tournament. Although stars like Josh Giddey fought resiliently, they could not sustain the pressure on the international stage.
