Ever been in a situation where your loved one is being celebrated for an important achievement and they can’t help but eye you down, making you a part of that moment? I have been, and I have also done it, during graduation ceremonies. Most of us have tasted this warmth. However, a Game 7 win after weeks of non-stop cat-and-mouse chase in the past 6 games, be assured, the feeling is no graduation ceremony. It’s better, as the thrill of winning that do-or-die matchup is too big to describe in words. Fortunately, while the night belonged to Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, they made sure to include their loved ones to feel important during the celebrations.

In the aftermath of the Warriors’ monumental 103-89 win, Draymond Green’s wife, Hazel Renee, took to her official Instagram account to share a story with her 154,000 followers. It was the now iconic video of Stephen Curry and Draymond Green walking to the locker room, with bright smiles on their faces, and the thrill from a Game-7 win coursing through their veins. At the start of the video, fans might have noticed both players looking sideways, with the power forward having his tongue out while the 3-point leader blew an air kiss. If anyone wanted context behind these actions, Renee gave it to them. She added a caption alongside her IG post that read “I meannnn they was eyeing us dooownnnn 👀 @ Ayesha Curry Gotta love them 🥰”.

Ayesha acknowledged this message by reposting Hazel Reene’s story on her own, and adding a few ‘Chandler Bing’ type laughing emojis as her own caption.

Ayesha Curry and Hazel Renee are the biggest voices of support for their husbands’ careers, and they keep proving it from time to time. One could occasionally check Hazel Renee’s Instagram page and find her sharing updates of the 4x NBA champion’s wins and feats, and following it up with heartwarming messages like “Last Night & A win!! My love just keeps climbing yall❤️.” Furthermore, she isn’t afraid to take swipes at her husband’s critics, either. This was seen when, in the same recent Instagram story, Hazel wrote another message at the bottom that read “Old Rockets team. New Rockets team. Warriors in 7!!! What y’all thought 😂😂”.

As for Ayesha Curry, she is there for the Warriors star constantly, whether it is attending important matchups or utilizing her love for food for her beau’s betterment. Back in October 2024, Ayesha took it upon herself to handle Steph’s diet before his matchup against the LA Clippers. Taking to Instagram, she showcased the dish she had prepared, which was a Creamy Basil Ravioli with blistered candied tomatoes, sweet corn, and grilled prawns. Ayesha also added a garlic and herb tomahawk, cause how else will the player get his infusion of protein?

Therefore, given how much their better halves do for them, they are the most deserving of getting eyed down by Steph and Draymond.

What’s your perspective on:

Is the support from Ayesha and Hazel the secret weapon behind Curry and Green's Game 7 triumph?

Have an interesting take?

The Game 7 victory was more than just something to be happy about. It was also a reason to breathe a sigh of relief. After all, as Stephen Curry recalled, the team had laid down their cards for what the matchup means to them during an emotional pre-game meeting.

Stephen Curry recalled him and Draymond Green taking charge during pre-game dinner: “matter of getting everybody on the same page”

The star of Game 7 was, without a doubt, Buddy Hield. As Draymond Green recalled, “I could see just the way he was walking this morning. Like, the way he was talking. Like, he was so engaged”. His confidence allowed him to take the offensive charge by scoring 33 points. As it turns out, Hield might not have performed as well as he did if the veterans had not given him the required motivation during an important pre-game meeting.

The details about that dinner meeting were asked of Stephen Curry by reporters during the post-game presser. The player revealed that the meeting was convened to create a level of awareness among the players. After all, the loss in Game 6 had pulled the team back to Earth, making them more vulnerable to elimination than ever before in this tournament. It was about discussing “just what can you control going into a game seven” and “give yourself the best chance to, you know, win a game on the road”. With Green and Curry carrying the most experience on the Warriors roster, it was natural for them to take charge.

“Draymond started with himself just talking about having a level of poise and composure,” the 3-point leader recalled. “I talked about some of the stuff I can…. we can control, that don’t necessarily show up in a stat sheet. Like, taking care of the ball, not missing box outs, not getting blown by metal drive stuff like that. Game playing discipline, and Jimmy talked about just, he’s just going to breathe confidence in everybody. So it’s just a matter of getting everybody on the same page going into a hostile environment”.

Whatever was said had a major impact on the Warriors players, especially Buddy Hield. Recalling the meeting, the star said, “I was just locked in, and, uh, just get my spirit together, and it just like, just the meeting we had, was just like, gave everybody chills. And, we know when this, when they go to battle, we know what that means, and, meeting was well needed”.

This may not be the last meeting that the veterans hold. After all, their next opponent, the Minnesota Timberwolves, who drowned the Lakers’ dream, is no easy team to get through. Plus, if we want any more ‘eye-downs’, then we need more wins to come Steph and Draymond’s way.
