“It’s always been a passion of mine. To be able to have that part of myself back has been so nice,” said Ayesha Curry back in March 2024, when describing what it was like to get back into the field of acting. Along with managing her culinary empire and managing her and Stephen Curry’s ‘Eat.Learn.Play’ foundation, the ‘momtrepreneur’ also recently returned to acting after a 6-year hiatus, giving her a chance to revisit one of her passions. You know who else has a passion for acting? Hazel Renee, wife of Stephen Curry’s long-time teammate Draymond Green. Therefore, knowing what it is like to find that passion after so long, Ayesha was amongst the first to celebrate her friend’s new milestone.

Hazel Renee recently took to her official Instagram account to put out a post for her 154,000 followers. Through that, she announced the launch of her newest acting project: ‘The Final Play’. It is described as a heartfelt and comedic indie feature that follows a retired pro basketball player named Breylon McNeil. Seems like Renee really cannot avoid the basketball court, as she is set to star as McNeil’s love interest in the film.

‘The Final Play’ is set to hit Amazon Prime on May 27th, and Renee just gave fans a first glimpse of the film. Within a few hours, the post received likes and comments from several individuals.

Ayesha Curry was quick to respond, liking the post and writing “Yesssssssssssss” in the comments section. Seeing her close friend also return to acting would make Mrs. Curry lose her composure, for sure!

Amongst the other people who reacted was actor Christian Robinson, who recently starred in Michael B. Jordan and Ryan Coogler’s hit ‘Sinners’. He wrote “Gggggggooooo Hhhaazzeelllll Gggoooooo 🤗🔥🙏🏾”.

Bresha Webb, known for her role in the comedy series Love That Girl! (2010–14), and Run the World (2021–23), commented “Let’s gooo🔥🔥🔥🔥”. Hazel Renee’s return is certainly earning her the love of several actors who continue making their mark in the industry.

While Draymond Green was selected in the 2012 NBA Draft and went on to establish a memorable career, Renee attempted to lay a foundation for a successful acting career back then. She gained some recognition for appearing in two episodes of Fox’s Empire back in 2017. Before that, she had appeared in a short film titled 12 Days of Christmas and two episodes of the series The Marriage Tour.

She continued having minor roles in Movies and TV Shows. Her last project was starring in a 2023 episode of Power Book IV: Force, in which she played a woman named Lady Z. The Final Play marks Renee’s first major project, starring as the titular character’s love interest. If things go well, this could mark a big jump for her acting career. Even Ayesha Curry would have realized this.

It was nice of Ayesha Curry to take the time out and comment on Hazel Renee’s post. After all, she would have been too busy linking up with some of the biggest philanthropists in the world at the ‘greatest city in the world’.

Stephen and Ayesha Curry gave out elegant looks during the ‘Time 100’ Impact Dinner in New York

Things did not end well for Stephen Curry’s tournament run, which in itself was a major roller coaster. The Golden State Warriors recorded a memorable winning streak at the start of the season, going 12–3, before then losing 4 consecutive games, recording 2 three-game losing skids, and winning only 4 out of their 13 games. The Warriors then turned their fate around in February by acquiring Jimmy Butler from the Miami Heat. However, during Game 1 of the 2nd round of the playoffs, Stephen Curry sustained the first hamstring injury of his NBA career. He was sidelined. The Dubs lost the next 4 games in Curry’s absence, and were eliminated.

In the aftermath of this, what Curry needed was to enjoy a night out in a different place other than the Bay Area. In the end, that is exactly what he and Ayesha set out to do.

Less than a week ago, TIME Magazine released its list of the 100 most influential people in the field of philanthropy. Both Ayesha and Stephen Curry were listed on it, thanks to the memorable work they have done in supporting Oakland children through their ‘Eat.Learn.Play’ foundation. As a result, the couple was invited to the ‘Time 100 Impact Dinner’ in New York City. Ayesha and Steph packed their bags, bid a temporary adieu to the Bay Area, and travelled to the West Coast to attend the event.

Steph appeared on the red carpet donning an olive green old-school suit. His beard was slightly trimmed. Meanwhile, Ayesha slayed in a two-piece black outfit that brought out the themes of both elegance and trendiness.

The official Instagram page of ‘People’ magazine highlighted the couple at the event and wrote, “It’s date night tonight! 💕”. Well, date night doesn’t usually have one attending the same event, which also had people like Oprah Winfrey, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and David Beckham in attendance. Furthermore, it also does not involve one of the people giving a 4-and-a-half minutes speech about their philanthropic efforts.

However, any night enjoyed with good food and good people in New York City carries its charm. If it helped to further promote the message about a project that both Steph and Ayesha believe in, then that is just a bonus.
