Tonight at the FedEx Forum, the two emerging shooting guards had a face-off. While Desmond Bane dealt with the hype of the last victory against Portland, the Heat’s guard was anxious to sustain the two-time winning streak. With the previous marginal win against the Lakers, Tyler Herro was pumped up with dopamine to and ready to tackle the game tonight.

After tonight’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies, the Miami Heat now have a three-game winning streak. However, the game had to witness a Tyler Herro-less Miami Heat on the hardwood post-first quarter.

Tyler Herro down with an ankle sprain

In the final minutes of the first quarter, Herro sustained an ankle injury in the right leg. Although the player exerted his strength to get up, his limping to the locker room points towards the seriousness of the injury. After landing on Memphis Grizzlies forward Jackson Jr.’s foot, Herro went for a floater; however, he didn’t have any free space when he landed. The collision was followed by the guard getting slumped on the floor. Post-examination and after diagnosing an official reason for the harm done, the player was ruled out for the rest of the game tonight.

Although Tyler Herro seems affluent regarding his return after a couple of weeks, the team might play it cautiously this time. Despite losing the best-in-class shooting guard in the first unit, the team maintained a significant lead in both quarters. With a final score of 108-102, the Heat made the Grizzlies’ last win look like mere luck. Further, Herro might need rigorous rest for a couple of weeks to heal his ankles and drag the franchise to the conference finals.

However, the fans are still anxious about the player’s status for the next game against the Atlanta Hawks on November 12. After amassing a meager total of 6 points, 1 rebound, and 2 assists, the shooting guard succumbed to the fallacy.

He might work on the rest of his game as well if it means coming back stronger and trying to lead the Heat to the playoffs this season.

Tyler Herro can still improve for the playoffs

“Boy Wonder” has too many limitations running against him beginning this season. After the surgery earlier this year, Herro is back on the court; however, the “injury-prone” tag looms high this season as well. Although the 23-year-old is most suited to unlocking a Miami defense, his negative wingspan and slight frame might make things worse. Once the guard gets back on his feet, the franchise must work on his defense because he is a peaceful spot to attack, especially in the playoffs.

The Boy Wonder doesn’t have to be the target on every possession, and for that, he might need to make a Stephen Curry-esque leap on the defensive end of the floor. Apart from playing adequate defense, he might need to take things from abysmal to passable. The NBA Sixth Man of the Year (2022) is great for Miami’s offense; he might be the most important player on the No. 8 team in a loaded Eastern Conference.

Herro’s performance in the last two games is praiseworthy in terms of offense and below-average defense. Against the Washington Wizards on November 3rd, Herro scored 24 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists. While against the Lakers, he amassed 22 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists. If the player can record an average of 2 points or more in each game, then it won’t be long before he enters the All-Star discussion.

However, the injury might work as a setback for the shooting guard. The NBA fans will have to wait to see the player rocking the offense on the hardwood until December.
