The Serbians look like one of the most confident teams in this EuroBasket with 3-0 wins, but when they locked horns today with Latvia, Bogdan Bogdanovic stayed out. After all, as team doctor Dragan Radovanovic confirmed in a statement, “Following the injury in the game against Portugal, an MRI scan was performed today, which revealed a hamstring injury”. While additional tests are reportedly required to establish a final diagnosis and prognosis, the star player is set to enter a short-term absence period right at the early stages of EuroBasket 2025. However, Bogdanovic’s national team isn’t the only one concerned about an ailment.

According to a recent report by ‘BasketNews’ and ‘Meridian Sport’, an evaluation by the medical staff from the USA is reportedly needed for Bogdan Bogdanovic. Even though he had already been scanned, “the medical staff from the US also needs to determine the severity of the injury due to the NBA’s insurance policy”. According to the ‘Cleveland Clinic’:

  • One can recover from a grade 1 injury after less than a week of rest.
  • The time period for Grade 2 and Grade 3 injuries is longer, reportedly taking up to several months for one to recover from.
  • Add surgery, and the recovery period gets extended. And this is what worries the LA Clippers.

Bogdanovic is set to start his first full season with the Los Angeles Clippers when the team kicks off the preseason on October 13th. Therefore, according to ‘BasketNews’, it will be decided under the determination of the USA specialists whether Bogdanovic’s injury is serious enough “to sideline him for the rest of the competition”. But this isn’t the first time the Serbian has faced the risk of missing out due to injury.

Bogdan Bogdanovic has a history of hamstring problems. After being diagnosed with the ailment back in late October 2024, it was determined that he would miss at least a month. However, he returned a little after mid-November. As reported by ‘TalkBasket’, the LA Clippers ultimately hold the final decision on Bogdanovic’s participation. This is due to the player being insured under the FIBA-NBA agreement.

If Bogdan Bogdanovic isn’t determined to be healthy enough, then that creates an issue. After all, according to a report, the Clippers were hoping for the 2017 EuroLeague champion to dominate EuroBasket for an unexpected reason.

LA Clippers Hoped Bogdan Bogdanovic’s EuroBasket Performance Raised His Trade Value

According to a recent report by ‘ClipperHolics’ journalist Iliyan Lakhani, the LA Clippers look to take advantage of a team option approaching. She stated that “contenders will not need to ask the LA Clippers if Bogdan Bogdanovic will be available at the trade deadline, as it is a given that Lawrence Frank will be seeing what he can get for him. He had a strong campaign last season and is likely to have another strong one ahead, but dominance in the EuroBasket will do wonders for his stock”. Lakhani believes that the Clippers’ goal with Bogdanovic will be to secure a first-round pick in return for him. Potentially a player or borderline all-star, even though the Clippers have already secured Bradley Beal for the 2025-26 NBA season.

Bogdan Bogdanovic was speculated to be part of a future trade back in July. Sports Illustrated reporter Jackson Caudell had previously suggested a 3-team trade that would send Bogdanovic to the Golden State Warriors, along with Kobe Brown, a 2026 2nd round pick (from LAC, via MEM), a 2031 2nd round pick (via LAC), and a 2032 2nd round pick (vi LAC), while the Clippers would receive Jonathan Kuminga, Gui Santos, and a 2026 2nd round pick (from ATL, via BOS). The Hawks, the 3rd team involved in the trade, would get Kris Dunn.
