Bronny James has been in the spotlight ever since his dad revealed his ambition to play alongside him. LeBron James is currently in the last stages of his illustrious career and Bronny has just begun his college. The 19-year-old rising star needs to be really good to skip the line and enter the league. But that hasn’t been the case for the USC point guard. Along with his team, he has been struggling to put up eye-catching numbers.

Right when Akron Hammer‘s dream seemed nowhere closer to reality, a recent Jimmy Butler comparison gave a ray of hope. After impressing the hoops nation with his athleticism in his high school career, Bronny created a buzz when he signed up with the USC Trojans. A lot was expected from the superstar’s son and before even the season began, he suffered a cardiac arrest.

The youngster took his own time to recover and stepped on the court after getting a clearance from the medical team. However, this time, performance wasn’t up to the mark. So far in the season, he has managed to average 5.7 points with 2.9 rebounds, and 2.6 assists in 18 games. While the numbers didn’t seem like it would fetch him an NBA contract, it matched the Miami Heat star’s college stats.

In fact, Bronny had a slightly better record than Jimmy Butler. But, 13 years down the line, Butler went on to win almost two championship rings for the Heat. Especially in the last season, he single-handedly guided his team to the NBA Finals from the eighth seed.

Butler averaged around 23 points in the regular season, but when it came down to the playoffs, he let lose his inner beast. In 22 games, he averaged around 27 points, almost strangling the Denver Nuggets.

Considering Butler’s unreal turnaround, Bronny can also bring in a similar impact.

The USA coach heaped praise on Bronny

Before signing up with the USC, Bronny played in the McDonald’s All-American game. He put up a decent show, dropping 15 points with 4 assists. Following the game, the team’s coach Steve Turner spoke about Bronny’s selfless nature on the court, reported The Mirror.

Turner said, “The biggest thing about Bronny is he’s very unselfish… I called on him to guard their best player, and he took the assignment and worked it to a charm. He’s a big part of why we won the game tonight.” Given the unselfish nature that Bronny possesses, he could be a valuable asset in the league.
