Folks, get ready for your hearts to melt a little. The Lakers’ season might be over, but the James family is still out here hitting major milestones, and Queen Savannah just gave us all a front-row seat to a big one: her youngest son, 17-year-old Bryce James, all dressed up and heading to his senior prom! And let me tell you, Savannah’s Instagram post about it? Pure proud mama gold. But, in true James family style, while they let us in on the joy, they kept one little detail on the low.

So, Monday rolls around, and Savannah drops this photo dump on Instagram that had everyone going “Aww!” She shared a bunch of snaps of Bryce looking incredibly sharp, like a young movie star, ready for his big night. We’re talking a crisp, dark navy blue button-up, a slick black Louis Vuitton tux with a black tie, and just the right touch of bling with a diamond cross necklace.

And it was clearly a big night for the whole James crew, because LeBron and Savannah were also decked out. Savannah was absolutely stunning, posing next to Bryce in what looked like her gorgeous black Issey Miyake gown, while LeBron, ever the proud dad, was also looking dapper in his Louis Vuitton suit for the Gala. You could just feel that “big night” energy for the whole family in those pics.

Her caption was short, sweet, and hit every parent right in the heart: “🖤Prom 2025🖤 This is really taking me out🥹 @_justbryce.” That last part with the teary-eyed emoji? Any mom or dad who’s seen their kid grow up way too fast knows exactly what she means. It’s that mix of pride and “where did the time go?!”

Just 3 years ago, she and LeBron were getting their eldest ready for the same moment. She’d made a similar post then too. Snaps showed her getting Bronny to look sharp in his black and blue tuxedo with an unconventional pattern. Zhuri was photobombing her brother and his date. And of course, a heartfelt note that read, “Tons of emotions and realizations… Time really flies.” The realization still hasn’t settled in for the mother of three.

This year, yet again, she topped the day with adorable pics of the whole family – LeBron, Bronny (who’s 20 now!), and little Zhuri (just 10!) all there, smiling from ear to ear. One thing different from the first post, though? While Bronny had posed beside his date, dressed to the nines and all smiles, the James family left their youngest son’s off the carousel. But Savannah made up for it with something else.

A little video clip of LeBron, the King himself, in full-on dad mode, helping Bryce get ready, making sure his suit was perfect before he headed off to prom, even as LeBron and Savannah were getting set for their own special event.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Bryce James carve his own legacy, or will he always be compared to LeBron and Bronny?

Have an interesting take?

That evening, the parents too stepped out to co-chair that star-studded 20th Annual Hammer Museum Gala in the Garden, with Savannah even sharing pics with her friend and fellow co-chair, April McDaniel. This high-profile event came right after she was turning heads at the Met Gala earlier in May.

Bryce, who was born back in 2007, is about to graduate from Sierra Canyon School in LA this Thursday. And yeah, he’s definitely got that basketball gene from his dad and big brother. Come November 3rd, the first official day of the 2025-26 college basketball season, Bryce is set to make his debut for the Arizona Wildcats in a can’t-miss showdown.

Bryce’s path – carving his own lane under the James family spotlight

That prom night was a big deal for Bryce James because it’s a classic “growing up” moment for any teenager. But let’s be real, when your dad is LeBron James, the spotlight is always going to find you, especially when you’re hooping. He just officially signed his letter of intent to play college ball for the University of Arizona Wildcats – that’s definitely a huge step for him.

He’s a 6-foot-4 shooting guard, and yeah, everyone’s going to compare him to LeBron and Bronny, but it really feels like Bryce is trying to make his own way. He is heading to Arizona as a three-star recruit (some even call him a four-star). He’s got talent, no doubt – a smooth jumper and a good feel for the game.

But it feels like he’s not walking in with that same insane, earth-shattering level of hype that was all around Bronny when he was coming out of Sierra Canyon. Bronny was a McDonald’s All-American, a five-star dude on some lists, and the whole world was watching his every move, especially with LeBron being so open about wanting to play with him in the NBA. That dream actually came true this past season, which was incredible, even if Bronny’s path through USC and the G-League had some seriously tough moments, like that terrifying cardiac arrest.

You can’t help but wonder if LeBron and Savannah, after seeing Bronny go through that intense media storm and all that pressure, are trying to give Bryce a bit more space to just be Bryce. Savannah’s Instagram post when Bryce committed to Arizona really felt like that. She wrote, “So proud of you @_justbryce!! 💙❤️ Your silent hustle has definitely not gone unnoticed!! I’m so excited for you and I can’t wait to cheer you on through this journey! 🐻 Down!”

Scouts think Bryce has a high ceiling. He could be one of those guys who spends a few years in college and develops into a really solid 3-and-D wing in the league. He’s got the size, he can shoot it, and he’s got that James family basketball IQ. But Bryce obviously needs to be given time and space to figure things out on his own.

The 17-year-old’s going to a strong Arizona program with Coach Tommy Lloyd, a place known for helping guys get better. It’s a smart move, a spot where he can work on his game, get stronger, and really sharpen up that consistency and defensive fire that scouts are looking for.

So, while that prom night was all about Bryce the teenager having a good time, him heading to Arizona is the start of a whole new chapter for Bryce the basketball player. And for us fans? We’re all watching, maybe with a bit of a different vibe this time – appreciating that “silent hustle,” respecting his journey, and just hoping that Bryce, doing it his way and on his own schedule, makes his own big mark on the game.
