The Brooklyn Nets recently faced off against the Indiana Pacers. While the Nets struggled to acquire a lead during the first quarter, they slowly built up their offensive play through scorers like Cam Thomas and Noah Clowney. While Thomas’ 27 points eventually led the Nets to secure a win through a score of 115-111, this stat also helped to add a major milestone to his name.
Renowned Sportswriter, Brandon B. Scoop Robinson recently took to his official X account to highlight an update in the aftermath of the Nets-Pacers clash. He reported Cameron Thomas had extended “his streak of consecutive home games scoring 25+ points to six”. A record achieved by only two other players in Brooklyn Nets history: 8x NBA All-Star Vince Carter and two-time NBA champion Kevin Durant.

With 3 of the Nets’ last 6 games having taken place at the Barclays Center in New York, the shooting guard got the opportunity he required to achieve this feat. Kevin Durant’s incredible offensive prowess took center stage after he established a 29-game streak with 25+ points with the Nets back in 2014. Back then, players like LeBron James had only 21 games to his name. Vince Carter, who played for the Brooklyn Nets (then known as the New Jersey Nets) from 2004 to 2009, himself recorded 25+ points in six consecutive games in a row. Given that his overall career average stands at 16.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.1 assists, the same was an impressive feat from the former player’s side.

What other records has Cam Thomas established under his name?
Despite having been a part of the NBA for barely 3 years, Cam Thomas has already left a memorable mark for himself on the court. He may not have many official NBA accolades to his name yet, but he has established records that some of the most distinguished players haven’t even come close to touching. In February 2023, in the player’s 2nd season, he scored 44 points against the Wizards and then 47 against the Clippers. This established him as the 2nd youngest player, right behind LeBron James, to score 40+ points in two consecutive games.
However, the player went beyond the record set by the Lakers legend when he became the youngest to make that many points in three consecutive games. When the ongoing 2023-24 season commenced, the 36 points scored by Thomas became the highest by a player coming off a bench during a season opener. After recording his sixth 40+ points game back in December, Thomas broke the earlier franchise record established by Nets legend Bernard King, who had 5 before turning 23 years old.
