After succumbing to an early pressure, the visitors made a comeback in the second quarter to finish the half. They began their second half with a scoreline of 53-54 as they slowly started to match the tempo of the game. Still, the Grizzlies failed to protect their 10-point lead late in the fourth quarter with a bit more than three minutes left.

The absence of Ja Morant was fully on display as the away side could not make the vital moments of the match count. They lacked a proper differentiator despite individual brilliance from a few of their players. The entire situation gave rise to anger amongst the fans as they joined forces to express their anguish.

How did the supporters react?

One supporter pointed out the heroics of their stars, such as Jaren Jackson Jr and Desmond Bane, before raising concerns. He raised doubts about the overall squad’s capabilities, saying, “You still can’t beat Portland.” It was a display of significant frustration from the fans’ end, as it only gained momentum with time.

Another pointed out the lack of strength from the opposition’s side in his team’s inability to snatch a victory.

One more voice expressed the same concern as he talked about the squad’s lack of depth, stating, “No other pieces”.

A fan dissected the gameplay in overtime and questioned the shot selection of the roster.
