A big surprise came in 2022 when Draymond Green made his debut as an analyst. If it wasn’t already clear, the role with TNT showcased his basketball acumen once again. But last season, things went south when his over-critical side took over while covering anything remotely related to Rudy Gobert. It’s hard to see Draymond back in that seat but this is the NBA and wilder things have happened. Even if he doesn’t appear, Green never forgets to give his flowers to his co-workers, especially, Ernie Johnson.

A couple of minutes ago, Draymond shared a post from GQ Sports on his Instagram story, featuring an exclusive interview with the Inside the NBA producer, who reflected on his troubling health issues. One might usually see the 68-year-old sporting a smile when taking his seat for the show, but back in 2003, Ernie was battling non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a fight he was fortunate enough to overcome.

However, that wasn’t the end of his struggles. In 2019, he faced another dark chapter when he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. The back-to-back blows made Ernie more conscious. And he changed his approach to prioritizing his health and well-being. “I always want to be in as good a shape as I can be… you’re on TV and you don’t want to show up, and it’s like, Wow! Ernie Johnson let himself go,” he told the media outlet.

And if there was one person who was getting emotional and feeling the pride, it was Draymond. “Still can’t believe I’ve had the opportunity to work with the legend… wow!” the 4-time champion wrote in the caption of his IG story.

The Golden State Warriors find themselves in deep water, holding onto the 11th spot in the West conference while struggling to find their rhythm. What they need now is a trade, but that’s something they’ve been finding difficult to work out. But a glimmer of hope has emerged, though it hinges on whether they decide to part ways with Draymond Green.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Draymond Green's criticism of Rudy Gobert justified, or is he just stirring the pot?

Have an interesting take?

The decision will not be easy for either the franchise or the 34-year-old, but it may be their only option to land a star player who could team up with Stephen Curry. Matt Levine of Newsweek speculated that a feasible option could involve the team participating in a three-team trade with the Grizzlies and Pelicans, bringing Brandon Ingram on board along with other assets.

A separation after thirteen years would surely be heartbreaking. While the Warriors haven’t officially mentioned it, it’s simply speculation for now. However, with the crisis unfolding in Golden State, anything could happen, and maybe, Draymond could find himself in some other franchise by the end of the trade deadline.
