Draymond Green’s much-needed arc gets a rare shout-out from Melo! We all know the reputation that the Golden State Warriors forward has built over the course of his career: an instigator, with violent on-court behavior, and a toxic temper. And, we also know the price he paid for it. It’s not just suspensions, but also a championship in 2016. However, Green’s behavior seemed to have taken a turn, and legend Carmelo Anthony recognized it, months after the Dubs star revealed the reason behind his controlled approach.

It’s safe to say that Draymond Green’s turning point came during the last season when he faced multiple ejections and suspensions. One of them was an indefinite suspension after he threw a punch at the Suns’ big man Jusuf Nurkić. Following that, the league directed him to undergo mandatory counseling before letting him play after 12 games. There are more details to it.

Therapy gave him a method to control his anger on the court. This seems to have worked out well for the star, as he hasn’t engaged in any majorly violent or questionable act so far and Carmelo Anthony sees it. On Tuesday, Draymond Green shared a series of pictures from the Warriors’ successful 5-game road trip that ended with a 4-1 record with an apt caption, “Just having fun! #therapyworks.”

It was indeed a wholesome post, capturing the emotions of the new-look Dubs. But it was Melo who caught our attention. The legend took to the comments and wrote, “STAY IN THIS SPACE MENTALLY!! Love it SALUTE,” as an acknowledgment of Green’s process.

Speaking of the method to Mark Cuban a few months ago, Green said, “Do I hold myself back? Absolutely… makes me maintain a sense of control when I know they’re (his kids) right there in the stands. They’re watching it right there.” So, what’s changed?

Has Draymond Green actually controlled his toxic temper on-court?

There’s no doubt that Draymond Green has considerably reduced getting angry at his opponents. But we aren’t quite sure if the power forward has fully done away with it. We have a few examples that could back our claim.

Firstly, in the last season, much later after he came back from the indefinite suspension. To be precise, 32 games later, DrayMagic let one of his antics out. Four minutes into the game, the 4x NBA Champ engaged in a heated argument with the game official, and guess what? He was ejected. Most importantly, this act turned Stephen Curry into an emotional mess, as visuals of the Splash Bro wiping his tears off went viral, and above all Curry kicked a chair in frustration in the same game.

Anyway, heading into the fresh season now. Green received a technical foul for unsportsmanlike flail for smacking Lu Dort’s head in an offensive play. Fortunately enough for him that the refs didn’t take serious action or else this could’ve put a pause to the Dubs’ 8-2 run.

Nevertheless, it’s also important to recognize Draymond Green’s efforts toward making himself a better player on the court and it’s evident. What do you think? Let us know in the comments.
