The NBA In-Season tournament is starting today. The event will take off in Indianapolis, and the Indiana Pacers and the Cleveland Cavaliers are the first two participants of this new format. Both teams will compete in Group A of the Eastern Conference. The Cavs were defeated without their star guard Donovan Mitchell with 125-113 points in their last match.

Things could be different for the Cavs this time with new injury reports. The Cavs’s best lineup has Donovon Mitchell and Darius Garland in the backcourt. On the front end, Jarrett Allen mans up alongside Evan Mobley and Max Strus.

The Cleveland Cavaliers received a boost when both Garland and Allen went through a shoot-around ahead of the match-up against the Pacers.

Garland has missed the last few games with a nagging hamstring injury, and Allen has been sidelined too due to a bone bruise in his ankle. Although they have been hooping and practicing this morning. The Cavaliers will probably make a game-time decision on whether they will play against the Pacers.

If Garland and Allen cannot play, the Cavs will have to rely on their other playmakers and scorers, like Caris LeVert, Mobley, and Kevin Love. Mobley had a game-high 33 points against the Pacers in the last match.

It could be challenging for the Pacers to do without their star point guard, Tyrese Haliburton, whose presence in the meet-up is still questionable. He was out in the last game due to an ankle injury. Since their 2-0 start, the Pacers have struggled, losing to the Bulls and Celtics.

Cavaliers showed defensive strength in a win against the Knicks. The Cavaliers held the Knicks to 89 points in their win. Head coach J.B. Bickerstaff is confident in the team’s defensive capabilities. “we will be most successful is if we are a great defensive team, which we have the capability of being. That’s where the Cavaliers hang their hat, being able to get stops on demand, “, he said.
