NBA players aren’t keen on playing in Boston. Those who have spoken about the merciless crowds at the TD Garden. But what happened with Stephen Curry genuinely wasn’t expected. The Warriors took some punishment from the Boston Celtics, and Curry nearly lost his temper at a fan.

After the game, the Baby Face Assassin was leaving his seats from the sidelines. While walking back, one fan near the exit gripped Stephen Curry’s left arm. They didn’t let it go. The four-time NBA champion showed his displeasure over the incident. Curry briefly paused to look at the fan before carrying on.

Likewise, security wasn’t just going to allow a confrontation to take place. The fan was escorted out of the arena after their antics. It was the full Celtics experience, where fans are ruthless against players not wearing the team uniform. With Curry, they despise the Warriors star a little more.

He is the reason the Celtics had to wait for an NBA championship.

Notably, in 2022, Stephen Curry single-handedly led the Golden State Warriors to their fourth NBA championship during his era. He won his first Finals MVP, spoiling the Celtics’ progress. What made it worse is the manner in which the two-time MVP captured the gold. It happened on the TD Garden floor, which Stephen Curry silenced with an expert performance in Game 6 of that series.

The Boston crowd is always passionate. Best believe that memory still lingers in fans’ minds. That being said, the fans’ behavior with Curry was completely inappropriate. Even heckling at NBA players could lead to fan ejections. But when it gets physical, the punishment could also get worse. There’s no such update or confirmation from the Celtics that they will take action against the fan so far.

They might be too busy celebrating their win over the Warriors.

The Boston Celtics leave the Warriors bruised

Stephen Curry didn’t need a fan yanking his hand for him to be upset. The Warriors talisman is itching to get back out on the court. He missed his 19 consecutive game and watched the Warriors struggle without him once again. The Celtics showed absolutely no remorse, demolishing their rivals with a 120-99 scoreline.

Jaylen Brown led the way for the Shamrocks. The Celtics’ two-way cornerstone logged in 32 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and two steals. Jayson Tatum and Payton Pritchard added 43 points as a tandem. The Warriors did a great job of limiting the Celtics’ ball movement. They forced 16 turnovers, but couldn’t capitalize on those opportunities.

Furthermore, their poor shot-making is the reason they need Stephen Curry back as soon as possible. No one from the Warriors scored 15 points on the night. They shot just 23.3.% from beyond the arc, and 40% from the field. The Celtics really had every Warriors player in chains. And there was nothing Stephen Curry could do about it. The Warriors don’t have a player who attracts attention, which creates a cluster rather than spacing out the floor.

After the loss, Steve Kerr admitted the Warriors may have lost their chance at having a guaranteed playoff spot.

“We’ve had our eyes on six for a while now but that’s out of the question now. We’re not getting there. If we can string together some wins, try to get to eight, that would be ideal, get two cracks at it. But, we’re not getting to seven, we know that. I’ve been talking about this theme, not in so much precise words like I just used,” said the Warriors head coach.

The Warriors have 13 games in hand. That’s enough to turn the standings around and land a 7/8 seed. However, that rests on how early Stephen Curry can return. The Warriors cornerstone has started workouts, but is yet to participate in team activities. He is pending an evaluation soon, which the team is optimistic about.

But it seems the Warriors are mentally prepared to have a longer route to the postseason. The only issue? If they finish 9/10, they will practically play a Game 7. Either win or go home. The earlier Curry manages to return, the less anxious Dub Nation will feel about playing an elimination game.
