The Boston Celtics will meet the Milwaukee Bucks in what is supposed to be the NBA’s early season marquee matchup. The Boston Celtics are coming off their third loss this season after losing to the Charlotte Hornets in overtime on Monday. On the other hand, the Milwaukee Bucks are red-hot with five consecutive wins.

Despite the recent loss, the Celtics boast the best record (11-3) in the Eastern Conference. However, a win against the dynamic duo of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard might be difficult to come by since the C’s might be without their franchise talisman, Jayson Tatum.

Is Jayson Tatum playing tonight?

According to Boston Sports Journal‘s John Karalis, Jayson Tatum is ‘questionable’ to play due to a non-covid-related illness. If Tatum decides to sit out tonight’s tilt, it will be his first absence this season. Jaylen Brown was recently sick during the Celtics’ road win in Philadelphia last Wednesday. Therefore, Tatum might have contracted it in the locker room. However, outside of Tatum, the injury report is clean.

Meanwhile, Milwaukee’s injury report mentions four players. Their newest addition, Damian Lillard, is mentioned as a game-time decision due to a left oblique strain. Joe Crowder will not be lacing up tonight after enduring a left adductor and abdominal tear during the team’s loss against the Orlando Magic on Saturday. Chris Livingston and MarJon Beauchamp?will also miss the marquee matchup due to ankle injuries.

Boston’s recent loss to the Charlotte Hornets snapped their six-game winning streak. The Celtics were leading by nine points until two minutes left on the clock. The tides turned in Hornet’s favour when Tatum missed a free throw with 5.2 seconds left, which would have pushed the match into overtime. As a result, Tatum’s 45 points failed to lead the team to its seventh consecutive win.

After the loss, Tatum said, “We’ve got to regroup. We’ve won six or seven games in a row, and it may be easy to get complacent, and we paid for it tonight.”
