Kristaps Porzingis dropped the hammer on his former team Washington Wizards after a clinical win. After trailing behind the visitors in the first half, the Celtics put up a strong defense in the third quarter, restricting the Wizards to only 16 points. At the same time, the Celts doubled up their offense with 36 points. In that attempt, Porzingis dropped 34 points with 11 rebounds.

Following the game, responding to the post-game interview, Porzingis opened up on his gameplay. It was indeed a hard pill for his ex-team to swallow. When the interviewer asked him if he had a mismatch every time down the floor, Tingus Pingus dropped a hard reply. He said, “Yes, yes I did. I wanted to make them pay.”

Kristaps Porzingis didn’t just stop there. He further went on to take a dig at his former team for trading him. He said, “They just traded away their… All-Star. They don’t really have a big man.” He further stated the role that the Celtics front office expected him to pull off: to exploit the mismatches and take advantage of it.

In his 34-pointer game, he unlocked his career-best of 14 free throws. Jayson Tatum and Jrue Holiday joined the party alongside him, dropping 55 points together to support the cause. Porzingis dropped 12 points alone in the 3rd quarter, taking the lead past 13 points.

On the other hand, the Wizards went off to a flying start outscoring the Celtics in the first two quarters and ending the first half with a 7-point lead. But their offense was completely strangled by the Celts in the second half. Speaking of the Wizards’ first half, Porzingis said, “He did have some non-shooters make some open shots which we gave them, but second half we knew we have to take away their transitions.”

Tonight’s Porzingis’ post-game interview was definite proof that he felt salty about the off-season trade. He further amped it up by expressing his opinion on playing against his former team.

He said, “As soon as the game starts, you talk a little back and forth with your ex-teammates. They know your game, you know their game. It’s always fun to play against former teammates and today was no different.”
