Over the last couple of years, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has gradually become one of the most lethal scorers in the NBA. His stellar performances, coupled with his superstar potential, have made the OKC Thunder one of the best young teams in the league. He has led the Thunder to an exceptional start in the 2023-24 season.

The OKC fans look to the future with optimism, however, their team’s performance right now has been nothing short of spectacular. Shai has been a big reason behind Thunder’s recent growth. However, Shai recently announced a really special development in his personal life.

SGA announced that he and his partner Hailey Summers are expecting a baby through his Instagram account. Several of his teammates and counterparts commented on the post. Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Jr. congratulated the couple by writing, “Congrats” on the post. His teammate Chet Holmgren also reacted by implying that Shai 2.0 is coming. He commented, “2 2.0” with a coming soon emoji. Shai’s former teammate and mentor Chris Paul congratulated the couple. He wrote, “Yesirrr” on the post. Brooklyn Nets’ guard Spencer Dinwiddie gave his best wishes to the duo, as he wrote, “Congrats Bro”.

Shai and Summers have been dating since 2017. Summers played soccer at the college level for the University of Albany from 2017 to 2021. She graduated from the college in 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. With the couple expecting their child to be born in 2024, could the year become even more significant for SGA?

OKC Thunder: Dark horses for the NBA titles

Before the start of the 2023-24 season, many fans and analysts expected better performances from the Thunder. However, no one was expecting OKC to become the second seed in the Western Conference. The Thunder have one of the best young cores in the league. Players like Holmgren, Shai, Jalen Williams, and Lu Dort are all under the age of 25.

The Thunder might not have prior playoff experience, but they do have youth on their side. The Thunder can provide a formidable challenge to established contenders like the Celtics, Bucks, and Nuggets. With Shai still averaging 29.9 points per game, the Thunder have an outside shot at the 2024 NBA title. Don’t be surprised to see OKC in the finals, come mid-June.
