A ton of pressure always accompanies the first game of the season. It sets the tone for the entire season and this goes for every team in the league. For the Golden State Warriors, it wasn’t a good head start, losing 104-108 against the Phoenix Suns. The Warriors were heading off without their All-Star player, Draymond Green, who was out recovering from an ankle sprain.

Chris Paul, their new member on board who was traded from the Wizards, made his Warriors debut in the season opener game, and his chemistry with Curry looked promising. However, we might have to hold that thought for now, as Curry’s interview post-game might say something otherwise. In fact, Curry takes a low-key jab at coach Steve Kerr.

Curry wants Coach Steve to ‘coach’

Stephen Curry’s post-game interview shed some light on his thoughts regarding the game. In a very subliminal manner, Curry feels that it’s the coach who should make some tough decisions along the way. He implies this because he feels “you have a lot of options out there“.

He ends it with, “We have to have trust and coach got to coach us“. If that’s too subtle for you to understand, don’t worry because rapper Cam’ron from It Is What It Is?spells it out for us.

He translates it best as Stephen actually meaning to say, “This n**** is in the way, Steve. You gon’ have to get him the f*** out my way. Cos if you think I don’t like it, Draymond gon’ throw a full-fledged f****** tantrum when he gets back.”

Cam’ron seems to not be buying Curry’s “subliminal shots” and calls him out for it. As per Cam’ron, Curry thinks it’s not a good idea for Coach Kerr to put Chris as a starter, and that he needs to start making better decisions regarding the team. Regardless, the Warriors did put up a good fight against the Suns, and they will have to work on building that team chemistry.

Chris Paul’s Warrior fired up after the third quarter

Chris Paul started alongside Stephen Curry in his first game with the Warriors, but he did not score his first basket until the third quarter. However, he pulled himself up with 14 points, 9 assists, 6 rebounds and 2 steals. Curry, on the other hand, dropped 27 points in the game. The Suns did not have Bradley Beal in the game who is dealing with a lower back tightness. However, Devin Booker carried the team with 32 points and 8 assists.

The Warriors have enough room for improvement as a team. It goes without saying that Chris’ input in the game weighed in a lot. In fact, he increased efficiency during the non-Curry minutes and committed just one turnover on Tuesday night. It overall boosted the Warriors in two areas they struggled the previous season.

Curry will just have to give it some time to work on his on-court chemistry with Chris. After all, stats don’t lie, and it looks like the veteran still has a lot more to offer.
