Jimmy Butler finally arrived at the Crypto.com Arena as he joined general manager Mike Dunleavy in a room full of eager reporters. The former Heat superstar has freshly inked a two-year contract extension and is not free from the indefinite suspension the Heat imposed on him. At the same time, he’s excited to team up with Steph Curry and the rest of the roster.

The veteran, more than anything, has found his happiness back again. That being said, the Golden State Warriors now have three veteran superstars among their ranks Butler, Curry, and Draymond Green. While this is great news for the Dubs, it also raises quite a few questions. A reporter asked Dunleavy about the $121 million commitment to Jimmy Butler.

To which he replied, “I think in that sense we’ve picked a path. It fits the two-timeline approach. I had to get that one in. No, I mean, again, I think we’ve picked a path and we’re going in a direction. We have three kinds of older generational players, but the beauty of the whole thing to me is that we’ve got a lot of complimentary pieces.” He suggested that the Warriors have picked a path and have committed to making the most of Curry’s time in the league.

However, is giving such a massive contract to Butler justified? the new Dubs superstar has made a name for himself around the league and not in a good way. He’s known for falling out with management, we’ve now seen that multiple times. This raises a concern for the Dubs, as they have gambled by giving him a two-year deal and also traded assets. For now, it seems the Warriors’ front office including GM Dunleavy is assured with Butler as they look to redeem this season by making a run for a playoff spot. Moreover, Dunleavy also noted that he aims to win now with this move.

With Jimmy Butler’s arrival, the Warriors have completed their goal of adding another superstar alongside Curry. However, general manager Mike Dunleavy has stated that it’s the team’s responsibility to salvage this disappointing season with just a couple of months remaining in the regular season. “We’ve got to be better at the top of the roster, and we were able to get a guy like Jimmy. All and all, pretty pleased,” said Dunleavy.

Further adding, “We’ve got 32 games here in the regular season to get it going. There’s no room for error.” Well, he is correct! If the Dubs want to make a playoff run they’ll need to pick up the pace and that there’s room to get complacent. Moreover, the major onus lies upon the veteran core of the team– Butler, Curry, and Green. All three will have to perform at a high level for the team to have a shot at title contention. This season Butler has been averaging 17 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.8 assists.

While Curry leads the team in scoring with 22.7 points per game. All eyes will be on the two as they take the court together against the Bulls. Dunleavy has ensured the Warriors have maximum chances of claiming another NBA championship with its core players, and at the same time, he wants to secure the franchise’s future. Well, only time will tell, if the Warriors can achieve this feat or not. Till then everyone will have to wait and watch.
