The Los Angeles Clippers have steadied their ship following an early setback in the new regular season. After their recent win, an All-Star from the franchise slammed their upcoming opponent publicly for their treatment of Russell Westbrook. Interestingly, it’s their local rivals who face the heat from the NBA superstar.

What did the Clippers’ star say about Russell Westbrook?

Paul George dominated the court recently, and the fans expected him to do the same tomorrow against the Los Angeles Lakers. Ahead of the game, the 8-time All-Star candidly talked about his next opposition’s treatment of his teammate. Showcasing faith in Westbrook, Paul stated, “He just did it in Washington,” to shed the spotlight on the Washington Wizards stint.

The 6’8 star attempted to justify his willingness to sign Russ for the Clippers while going against the flow. “He’s done, he’s this, he’s washed,” the 33-year-old highlighted, pointing out the “narratives” around Russ in his Lakers days. Still, he believed that the 2017 MVP “was the same player” as the forward mentioned, “I just knew he still had it”.

Emphasizing the necessity of the “comfort zone” for performance, George stated, “I saw he just wasn’t comfortable”. “So many battles he was fighting,” he added to empathize with the 34-year-old point guard openly. Displaying his support in the end, Paul once again backed his teammate, saying, “I knew he could help us”. His remarks made the upcoming contest even more thrilling, as the local rivals would meet after more than half a year.

They met on the verge of last season’s playoffs as both of them eventually qualified for it. The Clippers came out victorious that time with a 125-118 scoreline. Sadly, for their fans, none of them could go all the way to bring the NBA championship home. As both the franchises shared the same dream, the matchup is set to be fascinating.

Interestingly, both sides are entering this match after beating the Orlando Magic in LA. Clippers have a slightly better momentum than the Lakers. At the same time, Paul himself looked to be in great form in this early period. So, the noise is rising around the fixture.
