The New York Knicks fans have grown accustomed to disappointment and frustration for the last decade. But under the leadership of head coach Tom Thibodeau, the Knicks have impressed for the past three years. He has transformed the Knicks into perennial contenders. However, they have started the 2023-24 season in underwhelming fashion. They currently occupy the 12th position in the Eastern Conference, having secured two victories and suffering four losses.

The Knicks are set to play the Los Angeles Clippers in their upcoming game, which may potentially mark James Harden’s first appearance for the Clippers.

The Philadelphia 76ers finally granted Harden his wish to be traded to the Clippers on October 31st. The acquisition of Harden has made the Clippers a favorite to win the NBA title. James Harden’s arrival addresses the Clippers’ need for playmaking, which has been a notable deficiency since acquiring Kawhi Leonard and Paul George.

But in order to trade for Harden, the Clippers lost key rotation players like Nic Batum and Marcus Morris. The fans will get the first glimpse of the new-look Clippers later tonight, as they face the Knicks at MSG. As reported by Shams Charania, the Clippers are expected to start with Harden, Westbrook, Kawhi, PG13, and Zubac as their starting lineup.

The Knicks have lost both the games in which Barrett was absent. However, RJ Barrett could make a return against the Clippers, as he practiced with the team on Sunday. Coach Thibodeau said, “He went through all of practice today. We’ll see how he feels. I would assume if he’s good (he will play).”

The Knicks under Tom Thibodeau have improved significantly. Under Thibodeau’s leadership, the Knicks have clinched playoff berths in two out of his three seasons in charge. With players like Julius Randle, Jalen Brunson, and RJ Barrett, the Knicks can build a roster good enough to compete for a title in the future.

The Knicks could be one superstar away from challenging for the title. Due to the Knicks’ status as a “big market” team, they have the potential to attract highly sought-after free agents. They also have the potential to execute blockbuster trades for superstar players in the future.
