With playoffs around the corner, the 5× NBA Champion coach’s statement about the standout trinity has served a wakeup call for others.

After losing a match against Suns, San Antonio Spurs head coach highlighted the trio’s strength. In their team win, Booker and Durant were standout performers scoring 32 and 25 points respectively. But with playoffs nearby, the comments made by Popovich carries weight and reminds other teams of challenges for facing Suns.

Booker and the Suns’ Offensive Prowess

Popovich talked about the increased physicality his San Antonio Spurs employed in the second half against the Suns today. But this tactic used by him to often disrupt offensive rhythm of opponent turned out to be ineffective against Suns. Popovich bluntly stated, “you’re not going to stop Booker and KD from doing what they’re doing.” This comment tells us how good Suns have been this season.

Devin Booker, the All-Star Player, is averaging 27.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 6.9 assists per game this season. Kevin Durant has been another key contributor for Suns. KD has scored 27.5 points, 6.6 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game this season. While as Bradley Beal who is playing well upon his return has scored 18.1 points, 4.1 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game. Though a few bad games and Suns can lose their playoff spot, they will most likely qualify for the playoffs due to their current form. Popovich’s comments serves as caution for teams aiming for post season success. The Suns’ Big 3 represents not just individual talent but a cohesive unit capable of dictating the outcome of games. And the return of ‘Healthy’ Bradley Beal improves the team furthermore.

Popovich indeed knows a thing or two about building championship contenders. He praised his team too. His final remark, “Our guys did everything they could,” suggests that even a well coached and determined team failed against Suns.
