The Golden State Warriors dynasty is on the brink of fall for the second time in 4 years. They detoured the initial instance by winning the 2022 championship. However, things are different this time around, as it directly involves their dynasty player, Klay Thompson. The sharpshooter awaits a contract extension before becoming a free agent in July, with no intel on the Warriors’ current stance.

With that, and as the squad hung its jerseys for the season, Steve Kerr was asked about the future plans of the franchise. Speaking on the Willard and Dibs podcast, Kerr claimed, “I think we have an offseason of reflection and transition. But that doesn’t mean this thing is over.” The head coach proceeds to promise a major shakeup within the team, saying, “It’s the first time I’ve really felt like there needs to be some change, but I don’t know what it is.”

However, Kerr then claims that the latest season presents him with “a lot of evidence, and a lot of clarity on this year’s team.” One of the hosts segued into talks of Klay Thompson, probing; is Steve Kerr nervous about Klay Thompson leaving the Warriors? To that, Kerr immediately replied, “I’m really not.” However, seeing it from Klay’s perspective, Kerr cites that being chased by multiple teams could work well for the sharpshooter.

Regardless, Kerr believes that Thompson’s heart leans towards the Bay Area team, “I know Klay really well, I know he loves it here. I know how much we all love him. With that, the coach claims, “I think he should be a Warrior for life,” while hinting that the Golden State still needs all three of their superstars intact and together on the court.

After a dismal and inconsistent season, Klay Thompson failed to swish the net in the Warriors’ elimination game. In retrospect, he had 16 points in Game 7 of last season’s elimination game against the Sacramento Kings. Despite increased holes in Thompson’s game, Steve Kerr is consistently championing his return to the roster.

We need Klay back,” Kerr said in the post-game conference. The coach, as if already having vouched for the sniper in the front office, added, “And I know I speak for everybody in the (organization) — we want him back.”

Moreover, Draymond Green claimed that the Warriors have a knack for doing right by their players. The defensive wing said, “They did right by me. They’ve done right by Steph. They’ve done right by all of us. Klay tore his ACL and they gave him $160 million dollars.” As leaders of the Warriors clearly voice their desires, many believe that Klay will eventually continue his journey in the Bay.

Green, last year, made headlines about leaving the Warriors. The forward even went onto his podcast to subtly hint the same, gaining a lot of traction about his future. However, the Warriors, on the first day of free agency, scooped him with a $100 million offer. Moreover, after Klay sat out 900+ days because of an ACL injury in the 2019 finals, the Warriors immediately handed Klay a lucrative offer despite his absence.
