For the first time in 15 years, none of Stephen Curry, LeBron James, or Kevin Durant are in the second round of the playoffs. It is all because the NBA experiencing a rampant shift in power. The young and prosperous stars have realized their potential and ascended into the ethos of stardom. There are three spearheads leading this switch – Jayson Tatum, Anthony Edwards, and Luka Doncic.

The votes were shared between two players. Major votes saw Luka Doncic be the starter. The 6’8″ guard is having another prolific run in the postseason beating the Clippers in six games. To the bench was Anthony Edwards. The explosive shooting guard swept his idol Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns by contributing immensely on both sides of the court. Jayson Tatum was shown the hammer by the fans.

A renowned NBA expert, Colin Cowherd weighed in on the debate. He feels one man of the three holds the potential to become the face of the NBA.

Anthony Edwards is bound to become the biggest NBA star?

Cowherd and his co-host Jason Timpf went over the various NBA playoff scenarios. Going over the Nuggets-Timberwolves series, both came to a stark realization. They spoke of the hypothetical of Wolves beating the defending champions and the impact it could have on the impending rise of Anthony Edwards.

Timpf was the first to contribute to the conversation. With an almost hopeful enthusiasm in his voice, he teased the possibility of Ant beating the Nuggets in their ongoing series. It would mean beating not only the champions but also the best player in the NBA, even according to Ant. What implications would this have on him being the face of the NBA?

Cowherd felt it was Edwards’ title to grab. However, he didn’t relate it to the outcome of the series. Rather he felt Jayson Tatum’s “giver” attitude and the Joker’s disinterest in having that seat made it the probable future.

“Tatum’s personality, he really is a giver. He’s never a taker. You almost have to push him, nudge him to take. It looks like to me he loves being an All-Star, making good money and winning games. He doesn’t have any real agenda to be the face of the league. Most of the European guys are not interested. So like it’s open for Ant,” he said.

The only threat Cowherd mentioned is Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama. The 7’4″ wiry center’s ceiling is infinite, but he hasn’t broken past the seal just yet. Edwards is doing it on the biggest stage and outshining his idols. In the postseason so far he has averaged 33.4 points 5.6 assists and 1.8 steals per game.

Edwards has the vigor to perform on the biggest stages. Earning the nickname ‘Ant Man’, there is nothing ant-like about his game. The 21-year-old is everything the NBA needs. He loves competing, he is ferocious and there is an insatiable desire to win. Edwards is the star of the new age.

However, the presumption that Jayson Tatum isn’t eager to have that throne might be inaccurate. The Celtics superstar has tremendously improved over the years and has had big performances in the postseason. The desperation to win might sideline such an agenda. If the Celtics do win the title this year, there might be some serious competition for Edwards.

But do you agree that Ant can be the face of the league or will the likes of Tatum jump ahead? Let us know in the comments below.
