It’s official- Collin Gillespie is on the map. The Suns were down 23 points vs the Clippers before Gillespie put on a masterclass to overcome the deficit and win 119-117. Along with Kevin Durant and Devin Booker, the guard has proven to be a pillar in the Valley’s run in the backend.

At 25, Gillespie is experiencing his breakthrough season in the NBA. He’s on a two-way contract with Phoenix, that eases his appearances for the team. Let’s delve into the specifics of his contract and his financial profile.

What is Collin Gillespie’s NBA salary? How much does he make a year?

Gillespie’s two-way contract allows him to play with the Suns’ G-League affiliates, the Valley Suns. In July 2024, he signed a 1-year two-way contract with the Phoenix Suns that was worth $578,577. This means he’s just the 19th-best paid player in Phoenix, but added with his limited chances this season proves he’s worth the big bucks once the inevitable standard contract comes in.

But he has signed contracts before this one. He actually went undrafted in 2022, after which he signed a two-way contract with the Denver Nuggets, allowing him to also play for the Grand Rapids Gold. This was worth around $508,891. The season started off well for the Philly native. Gillespie played a pivotal role in the Nuggets’ Summer League team and averaged 11.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game. But a leg fracture resulted in a surgery that led to an indefinite spell on the sidelines.

He re-signed with them next season, another two-way which was worth $559,782. Over 24 games with the Mile High City, he has actually done a decent job, averaging 3.4 points in 9.4 minutes per game. He also had a solid 46.4 FG% and a 66.7 free throw %. Although no public records disclose his net worth, he will have earned a total of $1,666,045 by the end of the current season.

He attended Archbishop Wood Catholic High School, and did do well to get offers from Division I teams, but unfortunately didn’t get any. But his dominant performances in the play-ins tournament got him offers from Rider, Hofstra and Villanova. He eventually chose to play for the Wildcats. Oh, and also, his performances for Archbishop Wood earned him the Philadelphia Player of the Year in 2017.

In true Gillespie fashion, he shined for the Wildcats. Especially in his graduate year. The 2021-22 NCAA season saw Collin have a career-best 15.6 PPG, 3.8 RPG while shooting with a 43.4 FG%. A Steph Curry regen. He even got his Nuggets teammates talking big about him after signing for Denver back in 2022.

“He’s a hard worker, man. Collin has overcome a lot of (crap). Obviously, he had a pretty bad injury last year that had him out the entire season, but he didn’t complain. He didn’t make excuses. He worked his ass off. He had a great Summer League. He’s been a great pro the entire time…” said center DeAndre Jordan.
