“Continuing Marcus Smart’s Legacy”: 19YO Rookie Jordan Walsh Impresses Celtics Fans as Jayson Tatum and Co Take on the Knicks

The Boston Celtics continue to make their fans happy in the last few days, after a disappointing trade in the off season. The front office carried out a shocking trade and got rid of Marcus Smart in the off season. While it disappointed the fans as well as the point guard himself, the team had plenty of surprises in their bag for later. Just days before the preseason, the team capitalized on the Damian Lillard trade and roped in Jrue Holiday into the side. Following that, 19-year-old rookie Jordan Walsh further impressed their fans with his recent performance.

Jayson Tatum & Co took on the New York Knicks in their second preseason game after comfortably defending the Philadelphia 76ers. Even though the Knicks have had an upper hand throughout, Walsh definitely impressed the fans with his performance. Moreover, the team played this game without their big guns and yet delivered a neck-to-neck battle.

The starting lineup of the Celtics didn’t have Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Jrue Holiday but a less experienced side. However, the rising stars didn’t let experience come in their way as three of the starters dropped in double digits. On the other hand, rookie Jordan Walsh, coming off the bench, impressed the Celtics nation.

After the Marcus Smart trade, fans felt that the team had a void in the point guard position. Nevertheless, the Jrue Holiday trade somehow silenced the uproar, but Walsh completely ended the debate. Importantly, after the videos of the rising star stealing and dropping points went viral on X.

Walsh’s defending spirit revealed the commitment he was ready to give to the team. Despite playing the preseason games, the rising star was seen diving and securing the possession of the ball.

In the 19 minutes of game time, he registered 4 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals. Especially Walsh’s play during the second quarter of the game where he stole the ball from the Knicks’ offense and sprinted to the other end for a lay up got more attention.

Right after the inclusion of Jrue Holiday, the odds of the team’s chance at the championship went high. While it seemed like the Celtics have ticked all the boxes, they have another feather to add to their cap. Jordan Walsh. Following his stint in the second preseason game, fans celebrated the player. The result of the game didn’t go in Celtics’ way, as they suffered a 114-107 loss. But, the team definitely figured out its bench players.
