The inclusion of LeBron James’s son, Bronny, into an NBA roster has been a hot topic for quite some time now. Despite the young player’s poor stats at USC, he has the advantage of possessing his father’s backing. LeBron has indicated on several occasions that he will choose to take his expertise to whichever franchise drafts Bronny. This has caused his current team, the Los Angeles Lakers, to come up with a solution and prevent their star player from leaving. An indirect ‘head coach update’ from Antonio Brown’s network seems to have revealed the solution.

Remembered for being shockingly disrespectful to Caitlin Clark, the former Steelers wide receiver founded the CTESPN Network in late April. They’ve revealed that the Lakers have decided to name former NBA player JJ Redick as the next head coach. The move has been reportedly made as a way to retain LeBron James on the roster. An additional part of the deal reportedly ‘guarantees’ that the franchise will also draft Bronny in the June draft.

Darvin Ham, who coached the Lakers for two seasons, was recently let go after the Lakers’ elimination. While Warriors assistant coach Kenny Atkinson and former Bucks head coach Mike Budenholzer were being considered as top choices, Redick seems to have left their candidacy behind in the dust. Unlike Atkinson and Budenholzer, the former Magic player does not have any coaching experience backing him.

However, he has served as a sports analyst for ESPN and has interviewed over 190+ professionals. Furthermore, being the co-host of the ‘Mind the Game’ Podcast also means he shares a good professional relationship with LeBron James. This was something that was thoroughly lacking with the Lakers’ lead scorer and Darvin Ham.

Ever since the NBA world found out LeBron James’s eldest son has basketball aspirations, the youngster has been under a microscope. Expectations were high after he was accepted into USC’s program. However, during his 25 appearances, Bronny could only secure an average score of 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists. This stat was enough to convince people that he has a long way to go before he can start making a mark in the NBA. Also, such a scorecard would not make him an appealing choice for any team during the draft.

LeBron James, who turns 40 by the end of the year, made it clear he wishes to play alongside his son in the big league at least once before retirement. If doing the same meant he had to part ways with the Lakers, then so be it.

Appointing JJ Redick as head coach and drafting Bronny into the Lakers are two moves that would certainly go a long way in retaining LeBron James for the 2024-25 season. While the revelation by ‘CTESPN Network’ may carry some merit, nothing can be said for certain until the Lakers announce their decision officially.

Despite his disdain for LeBron James, Skip Bayless is not completely against JJ Redick as Head Coach!

If there is one individual that longtime NBA fans know not to be a big LeBron James fan, it is Skip Bayless. The 72-year-old has often made use of his platform to call out the Lakers star on his poor performances, on-court mistakes, etc. When taking JJ Redick as someone who would lead the Lakers, he didn’t choose to be that critical.

In a recent segment of his ‘Undisputed’ show, Bayless highlighted Redick’s “good-looking” persona and his ‘slicked-back hair’ as indications that the former player would do well with the Hollywood-based team. Another factor that made him the perfect pick was the synergy he shared with LeBron.

“His connection with LeBron seems pretty strong because they are vibing on this (Mind the Game) podcast, they are diagramming on this podcast,” said Bayless. “It fits the mold, it fits the image of Hollywood LA Lakers”. While praising him for this, however, the host stated that acquiring Redick would be a ‘high risk, high reward’ move.
