Following the success of the In-season Tournament, the Los Angeles Lakers had a difficult outing against the Dallas Mavericks. The franchise spearhead Luka Doncic didn’t let the absence of Kyrie Irving be felt, as he took up the job himself. Especially, a sequence at the start of the second quarter left the audience to lose their mind. The Slovenian star put LeBron James and Anthony Davis to business with a mesmerizing move from the arc.

James and Davis were the stars of the IST Finals night. One superstar took home the first-ever IST MVP trophy, and another dropped 41 points with 20 rebounds. Other than that, the team held a clean record in the tournament with zero losses. However, the team seemed to be completely off-color during their Tuesday night game against the Mavericks.

Luka Doncic made LeBron James and AD dance to his tune

Luka Doncic has continued from where he left in the last season. He has improved his scoring considerably. With an average of 32.4 points this season, the 24-year-old star stormed his way into the MVP conversation. While it’s too early to call a player MVP only 20 games into the season, Luka’s produced a special move.

Importantly, he just didn’t enter the MVP conversation, he also ridiculed the former MVP and former All-Defensive Team player with a spellbinding move on the court.

One minute into the second quarter, the Mavs were 5 points ahead of the Lakers and Doncic ballooned the lead to 8 points with a three-pointer. It wasn’t just any other three-pointer. He competed against King James and AD at the same time and he almost produced an ankle breaker for the king. He eventually dropped a three-pointer over their heads, leaving the Mavs bench and the crowd awestruck. Here is the video clip of the exciting sequence.

The special move helped the Mavs further expand their lead in the quarter. By the end of the first half, the Dallas side went to the locker room with a 61-71 lead.

However, it’s too early to write off a team like the Lakers, as they have the potential to bounce back from any stage of the game.

Lakers mounting a steady comeback

That magical play at the start of the second quarter helped the Mavs to expand their lead further. The team maintained the press and scored crucial buckets to end the quarter with a 10-point lead.

However, the Lakers, on the other hand, stepped on the court after the break with a plan in their heads. The LA side’s superstars AD and James turned up the heat by dropping 13 and 12 points respectively in the third quarter to take a 2-point lead. And set the stage for the last quarter.

The injury-plagued Mavs may bite the dust. Considering the absence of Kyrie Irving, Josh Green, and Maxi Kleber, the team could end up in huge trouble at the end.
