The Milwaukee Bucks faced off against the LA Clippers tonight, which turned out to be one of the most anticipated games of the season, with the Bucks taking the win away. Both teams occupy a high spot on their respective tables. The Clippers looked forward to break their rival’s 5-win streak, but couldn’t despite the advantage they had with Giannis missing the game owing to his Achilles Injury. Team Clippers took a 35-25 lead in the first quarter, with James Harden scoring 11 of these points, and Paul George scoring 8.

Post the initial disappointment faced by the Bucks, they slowly started to pick up pace and turned the game around in their favor. Damian Lillard led the charge for the same in Giannis’ absence. Along with his 5-for-7 shooting and a score of 15 points during the first quarter, he ended up dropping an additional 26 points and brought his total to an astonishing 41, which was enough to give his team the edge they needed to win tonight. And post the game, Lillard was asked about “what was clicking tonight” for him and the Bucks, possessing the 6-game streak now since the All-Star break, to which he revealed all of his teammates had a “big talk“, about the new changes and adjustments implemented by their coach, Doc Rivers. Even though they were hesitant to take up the changes, they adopted them, which brings them to where they are. “Leading into the break, there were a lot of things that we just weren’t fully committed to” said Lillard. “So as we brought into that, we’ve been able to do it even when it’s been the hard parts of the game. It always works out for us”.

Damian Lillard once called Doc Rivers “the perfect person” to lead the Bucks

Doc Rivers is someone with a lot of experience up his belt. From leading the ‘Big 3’ of the Boston Celtics to a win during the 2008 NBA championship to leading the Joel Embiid led Philadelphia 76ers reach a new level of excellence, the 62-year-old has been instrumental in bringing change where required. Damian Lillard believed that this was the very thing that his team needed.

When discussing Rivers joining the Bucks, Lillard highlighted that he knew the coach was going to challenge the players to their ultimate potential and that he was ready to see the same.
