Pensive fans and analysts suggested the Los Angeles Lakers lose to the New Orleans Pelicans. All in light of avoiding another clean sweep situation with the Denver Nuggets. However, LeBron James and the Lakers will not risk their season anymore and are heading straight to Castle Koopa. On the other hand, the Golden State Warriors now hang their overalls for the season, facing a tough 118-94 play-in elimination by the Sacramento Kings.
Now, as fans bash Steve Kerr for one of the Warriors’ worst seasons in the last decade, analyst Nick Wright came to the rescue. Specifically answering to Jim Park’s comments about firing Kerr, Wright -who ranked LeBron James as the No.1 player against the greatest top 50 NBA players of the past 50 years- highlighted the 4-time champion coach’s ability to maneuver through one of the toughest seasons; Klay Thompson’s shooting touch, Draymond Green‘s altercations, harboring a unit of young players, and plenty more.
With that, Nick even mocked the Warriors’ fans behind their heat, albeit while directing the flame toward Lakers’ head coach Darvin Ham. He said, “See lakers fans hate their coach too but they have a real reason. Darvin stinks and never won anything.”

Kerr has guided the Warriors to 6 finals, lifting four trophies. Moreover, Kerr’s success completely comes through utilizing the pieces at hand. On the other hand, Darvin Ham, for the entirety of the season, has faced criticism for questionable moves. The sophomore coach resorted away from playing last season’s starters throughout the 2023-24 campaign, the crew which went on a surging run post-trade-deadline. Moreover, with back and forth placement of Austin Reaves in the lineup, Ham failed to bring more out of Rui Hachimura; a constant performer during their playoff run the previous season.
Comparing Darvin Ham and Steve Kerr’s resumes
Despite the Warriors’ disappointing season run, Steve Kerr is still the orchestrator of the most dominant dynasty in the last decade. He has a 73-9 all-time record run from 2015-16 season by his side. Moreover, he is named as one of the top 15 NBA coaches, behind his all-time winning record of 519-274; a 65% winning record in the regular season and 70% in playoffs (99-41).

Darvin Ham, on the other hand, is currently in his second season in a head coaching position. He came off a 7-year assistant coach stint with the Atlanta Hawks, followed by a 4-year tenure in the same role with the Milwaukee Bucks. Even though Ham managed to see the shine on Larry O’Brien closely through the Bucks 2021 championship run, he is yet to enter the space while spearheading a team.

Darvin Ham, through two unstable seasons, has a regular season record of 90-74 (54% winning efficiency) and a playoff record of 8-8 (50%). His short tenure as a head coach is yet to put him alongside the top coaches in the league. However, the Lakers’ coming challenge against Denver is Ham’s key to skyrocketing the process. If Darvin Ham manages to decode a way past the first round, it can easily change the narratives around him, instantly pitting his stock within the league.
