It’s been weeks since James Harden dropped his ‘liar’ bombshell on the NBA world. Following this massive accusation, his time with the Philadelphia 76ers seemed all but over. However, the 2018 MVP is yet to find a way out of the 76ers. There have been a number of teams that have kept tabs on Harden, but a deal hasn’t even been close yet. Interestingly, there is an unlikely suitor for Harden’s services.

It is the Los Angeles Lakers led by LeBron James. The Lakers have had a major overhaul this season and they can further solidify their squad with the addition of James Harden.

A potential LeBron James and James Harden linkup might happen

There have been talks of Harden potentially joining the Los Angeles Clippers ever since the start of the NBA Free Agency. A lot has happened after Harden opted for his player option with hopes of acquiring a trade. He has called Daryl Morey a ‘liar’ and has also been fined $100,000 for his derogatory comments.

According to hoopshype, there are a handful of teams who might end up signing the 10-time NBA All-Star in the coming days. The teams in question are the Chicago Bulls, the Houston Rockets, the Dallas Mavericks, and the Lakers. Interestingly, the Lakers’ interest in The Beard might urge the Clippers to make the final push and secure the player’s signature. And, despite having the likes of D’Angelo Russell and Gabe Vincent to run their point, adding a quality superstar just transforms the Lakers’ side.

Their interest in Harden is not unwarranted. After all, one of Russell and Vincent will be available for trade during December. This might play a huge role in bringing James Harden to the Lake Show.

What can the Lakers offer?

Rob Pelinka deserves a lot of credit for the deals the Lakers have pulled off within the past few months. They have retained Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura on great economic deals and have also brought in names like Christian Wood and Gabe Vincent.

In case they want to bring in Harden, the Lakers will have to unload a lot of draft picks. They can offer one first-round pick in 2029 or 2030 and a number of second-round picks. Moreover, they have youngsters like Jalen Hood-Schifino, Max Christie, and others to include in the deal.
