The Memphis Grizzlies recently welcomed 2011 MVP Derrick Rose to their team where he will play alongside Ja Morant. The former Bulls and Knicks star signed a two-year $6 Million contract with the Grizzlies. While Rose’s arrival brings a valuable veteran presence to the Grizzlies, he made it clear that he’s not there to “babysit” Morant.

More recently, LeBron James gave props to Rose before the upcoming season. Despite the MVP contention in 2010-11, King James took to his socials to hail the veteran. Rose will be the backup point guard for the Memphis Grizzlies behind Ja Morant, sparking discussions about his veteran role.

D-Rose Refuses to “Babysit” Ja Morant and Others

Ja Morat has been in hot water recently owing to his gun-show antics on Instagram Live. Resulting in a 25-game suspension that will see him lose close to $7 Million. More importantly, he will miss out on games. The inclusion of experienced vets like D-Rose and Marcus Smart is a calculated move by the Grizzlies front office. In hopes that their franchise star will be nudged in the right direction.

Despite that, the former MVP has other things on his mind. On Media Day he explicitly stated, “I’m not here to babysit, I’m not here to follow you around, I’m not here to cheerlead. I’m here to push you.” The former MVP further added, “I’m very fortunate to be in a situation where a lot of people look at his game and they kind of compare our games together. But he’s on a whole other level.”
