The Los Angeles Lakers recently faced off against the Sacramento Kings for the 4 time this season. Having lost their previous 3 games to the Kings, Lakers players like Anthony Davis and LeBron James were looking to put up a great offensive play and secure a higher score than their rivals. While it worked pretty well during the first quarter, the Kings slowly started to gain momentum and had overtaken their rivals drastically during the third quarter. In the end, the Lakers lost by a score of 107-120.

In the aftermath of the game, LeBron James took some time out to discuss what went wrong. Speaking out on their offensive play, the 39-year-old stated “Offensively, we just couldn’t get it going, and they did. Really good team, they have our number this year, for sure.”

During the same interview, LeBron was asked if there was any psychological factor behind LeBron’s “they have our number comment”. The player replied “When you stop an offence….and then they get a second chance and they kick out, you know those are the ones that are kinda demoralizing”.

LeBron James’ performance during the recent game wasn’t one of his best. For someone who had scored 31 and 29 points during the last two games, the player had ended the recent night with a score of just 18 points. He had, however, maintained a high 13 rebounds and 9 assists. Three other Lakers had their points in the double digits, with Austin Reaves’ 28 leading the charge. In the end, it didn’t matter as the Kings continued a balanced scoring and the combined efforts of Domantas Sabonis and Harrison Barnes prevented the Lakers from developing a points gap in their favour.

Out of the 1,479 games that LeBron James has played in his NBA career, 42 of them have been against the Sacramento Kings. Despite alternating between different franchises during his 19-year career and facing a different Kings roster after a specific interval of time, the four-time NBA champion had maintained a high average against the team. The same could be said about the current season as well.

During the 4 games that the Lakers lost against the Kings, LeBron James managed to secure a high average of 26 points, 10.8 rebounds and 10.5 assists to his name. The best chance to defeat their rivals seemed to have occurred during the previous faceoff on the 6 of March, when LeBron scored 31 points, 13 assists and 5 rebounds. This, and the combined effort of the other players, had placed the Lakers with a 19-point lead in the first quarter. In the blink of an eye, however, the Kings had lost their lead and ended up with a 21-point deficit in the second quarter.
