The Dallas Mavericks are face-to-face with the Denver Nuggets in a much-anticipated clash at the American Airlines center. But the Mavericks’ job just became harder. NBA Insider Chris Haynes has reported that Denver forward Aaron Gordon is back and expected to play after missing nine games due to a calf strain.

The 29-year-old is one of the most important players of this Nuggets roster and has been averaging 13.7 points, and 5.8 rebounds so far this season. Gordon last suited up for his team back on Christmas day, where he played just 19th minutes before being subbed due to an injury. Since his injury, the Nuggets have gone 6-3 without him.

Russell Westbrook has stepped in big-time providing much-needed assurance as Gordon recovered from the injury. Furthermore, this is also more good news as Gordon isn’t the only star missing from Denver’s roster as stars like Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic have also struggled with injuries.  So, Gordon’s availability comes as a sigh of relief for the Nuggets fans.

The news has left the fans hyped up, with a lot of them taking to social media to express their emotions. One fan wrote “Let’s go” as he heard that the forward was making a return after a brief absence from the court. The Denver are coming off back-t0-back wins despite missing a number of key players. Well, they have received some goods for the Mavericks showdown. As Aaron Gordon makes a return, one fan couldn’t contain his excitement from hearing the news as he wrote, “Big news for Denver” which perfectly summed it up.

On the other hand, one Mavericks fan couldn’t believe how Aaron Gordon after missing nine games got cleared to play against Dallas as he commented, “Ofc it’s against the Mavs“. Suggesting that when teams are playing against them every injured player miraculously recovers from their injury adding to the Mavericks’ woes.

At the same time, a Denver fan wanted to know if Gordon’s return would mean that there might be some changes to the lineup. As he asked, “They gonna keep Russ in the starting 5 with AG’s return?” Well, Westbrook has been great in Gordon’s absence and will most likely retain his place. Given that, after coming from an injury Gordon might be on a minutes restriction as of now.

A fan complimented the timing of Aaron’s return writing, “Perfect timing.” The Nuggets needed reinforcements with stars like Murray and Jokic injured. And Gordon will provide just that and help out his team. It remains to be seen if Gordon will play the entire game or not as lower leg injuries are often followed by minutes restriction. Nonetheless, it’s great news for Denver before the tip-off.
