It’s a new day and it was time for yet another media masterclass from Joe Mazzulla. The 36-year-old HC has turned his media handling skill into an art form, be it a bit morbid at times. With the Celtics Ring Night hours away, Mazzulla again faced the questions of the press and this time it took an unexpected yet hilarious turn.

Answering the questions about all things related to the Cs, Mazzulla was asked about the feeling the pressure going into the season. In the most Joe Mazzulla way possible, he replied, “If you allow words to take your personal power, then yes. So I don’t allow words to take my personal power, and like that’s just important.”

Mazzulla emphasized that Words have power in one allows them only. “That’s what I try to teach my kids. I don’t give a sh*t what somebody says to you,” he said to the gathered media. Mazzulla further added that if someone says something that’s only verbal and there’s no physical harm in it. So does it matter? No is the answer for him.

“So, like, it’s not pressure. There’s nothing anyone in this circle can do to me that’s gonna impact my identity and who I am as a person. We’re either gonna win or we’re not in full years from now. None of you are invited to my funeral, and that’s it. That’s it,” Mazzulla concluded, leading a chorus of laughter among the media.

But wait, there’s more. Mazzulla talked about funeral already so it was only natural that he’d also talk about what comes before that.

Joe Mazzulla talks about feeling no pressure prior to the 2024-25 season

The Celtics are set to open the big night against one of the most formidable teams in the East, the NY Knicks. While it’s quite natural to feel the pressure associated with the clash, Joe Mazzulla says he has none. “Zero. No Pressure. We’re all gonna be dead soon, and it really doesn’t matter anymore,” the HC told the media during the team’s practice on Monday.

Mazzulla’s perspective is very straightforward; they are either going to win or lose. No matter what the results stand, they will forget about it the next week. “So it’s not pressure. It’s an opportunity,” he declared and further claimed, “We have an opportunity here, over the next few years, however long we were together.”

Mazzulla might not have any pressure ahead of the regular season, but he clarified that their expectation is to win. He highlighted the great characters and talents they have in the Celtics and said they have to work towards maximizing that. And as Mazzulla mentioned before, he wants the red dot right between their eyes, his words about life and death only make much more sense now.
