Novice Stephen Curry didn?t really cash a big check
The influx of new talent has made the league more sophisticated than ever. Stephen Curry has risen to greatness partly because he?s adapted like no other. Curry’s offense might be his greatest weapon, but his vast pools of energy set him apart from other point guards. As a rookie, however, Steph was vastly underpaid. Even in 2012, which was his fourth NBA season, Curry was earning a modest $11 million a year. From 2017 to 2019, he led the Warriors to multiple championship charges after, while still making $297,307 per game.

In comparison, Chris Paul ranked #2 in the 2019-20 season and bagged $38,506,482. Paul made $263,666 per game that season with an #2 All-time earnings rank. Russell Westbrook, who was with the Houston Rockets that season, made $26,540,100, averaging $280,030 per game.
While Curry is not that far behind Chris Paul, it?s obvious that he wasn?t paid as much, despite being the best in the league. According to HoopsHype, Curry was the third-highest-paid point guard despite the $305,929,066 earnings. In fact, Curry ranks 7th on the list of highest All-time earners.?

Curry?s come a long way since. In 2017, he signed a 5-year, $201 million contract with the Warriors. Past that, he struck another $215 million extension deal, making him the only NBA league player to sign back-to-back 200 million dollar deals. In the 2025-26 season, Curry is all set to make nearly $60 million per season.
