The Sacramento Kings have been a bottom-feeder for such a long time that they aren’t getting their due respect now. If not for Stephen Curry’s heroics, the Kings almost knocked the Warriors out. Yet, they are not part of any debates or discussions, and nobody looks at them as a contender. Despite finishing 3rd in rankings last year, they don’t even find a spot in the top 5 ranking probabilities.

Channing Frye, Richard Jefferson, and Allie Clifton were discussing the top 4 teams of the Western Conference in their Road Trippin Podcast. And it was Channing Frye’s top 4 that made Allie Clifton feel aghast by the non-inclusion of the Kings amongst the top teams of the Western Conference. Channing’s logic was that the Denver Nuggets and the Phoenix Suns are the top 2 teams, followed by the Lakers, and the Warriors who have improved this offseason. He also included the Clippers as the fifth for paying homage to Kwahi Leonard and Paul George. So clearly, he does not see the Kings as a popular team.

Then Malik Monk was a problem to which there will not be an answer anytime soon. He was fearless, like Klay Thompson. Huerter, Sabonis, and Keegan Murray are still there for the Kings.

With such a solid core, they have added a big guard in Chris Duarte. He can score, he can guard, and he can definitely play backup to De’Aaron Fox.

The Young Ones.

The Pelicans, Grizzlies, and Timberwolves have some exceptional talents in their teams to build upon, but they are not as ready as the Kings. But they can definitely shock the league if they manage to remain consistent and do not let off-court drama interfere with their goals.

As for the Kings, they already have the blueprint. Mike Brown knows that he has gold in his hands. This Sacramento Kings team is much like the 2013-14 Warriors that can make a giant leap this season.
